The journey towards greater inclusion is shaped by policies, partnerships, innovation, and the achievements of women who continue to break new ground. In this edition of Women Entrepreneurs Review, reflects an ecosystem where policy reforms, business investments, leadership transitions, and individual accomplishments are collectively redefining opportunities for women.
This week's round up spans the spectrum of international cooperation and public policy, entrepreneurship, corporate leadership, social impact and sporting excellence. From governments launching programs increasing financial inclusion and organisations investing in women-led innovation to institutions establishing networks for women's leadership and skills to acquire. Public Policy: Women’s Empowerment across Welfare, Employment, Mobility & Global Cooperation
India witnessed several policy initiatives reinforcing women's empowerment through global cooperation, welfare, employment, mobility, financial inclusion, and community safety. Under India's
BRICS 2026 Chairmanship, member nations adopted the first-ever BRICS Women Track Joint Statement and endorsed two India-led digital initiatives to strengthen institutional cooperation and women-led development. Complementing this, Vishwa Mangalya Sabha announced awareness programs in Delhi and Hyderabad, where RSS chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat will deliver his first-ever public dialogue on "Motherhood" with women delegates during the RSS centenary year.
NABARD's 45th Foundation Day marked with the theme of "Women farmers, self-help groups and women-led producer organisations" in Maharashtra, reiterating support for a climate-resilient rural development. Union Minister Annapurna Devi emphasized various flagship schemes such as Anganwadi Services, Poshan Tracker and SHe-Box to improve nutrition, child welfare and women's safety. The Odisha government also declared the fifth payment of ₹ 5000 under Subhadra Yojana for more than 1.01 crore women and thus took a leap towards financial empowerment of women.
Delhi has made the Pink Saheli smart card compulsory for free bus travel from August 1 on the mobility front. The West Bengal Police launched the PACE platform to facilitate the linkage of women with the private sector jobs, and the Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate has launched the Sahachari project to train almost 3,000 women from the self-help group with legal rights, awareness about cybercrime and community policing for enhancing safety at the grassroot level and women's participation in public security.
Social Impact: New Initiatives Strengthen Women's Livelihoods, Skills, Safety and Digital Inclusion
A series of activities aimed at building women's economic empowerment, entrepreneurial skills, scientific leadership, digital access, and community health and welfare. The CII Indian Women
Network (IWN), Madurai Chapter has already initiated ‘Aatral’ a flagship program which aims to empower women entrepreneurs by providing them with structured mentoring, networking and business development support for 11 months. CSIR marked the occasion of Women Scientists with a dedicated endeavor called ASPIRE-SHAKTI, in which 301 women scientists were honoured and the growth of research commercialisation was encouraged. Nearly one million women in healthcare, entrepreneurship and livelihoods have been digitally empowered with a support of ₹25.84 crore provided by Reliance Foundation and Gates Foundation through the ShMatradeeConnects Digital Accelerator.
NABARD and NSDC rolled out NGO Gramodyam for promoting 4000 rural enterprises at the grassroots, whereas Rural Development Ministry launched BHULI scheme to mentor, finance and market 150 women entrepreneurs. JKEDI enhanced women entrepreneurship by imparting training to 44 women in the RAMP scheme; while Belstar Microfinance emphasized the potential of collateral free credit to turn a rural entrepreneur into a successful Laundry business owner or mentor.
In this regard, DS Group's Pallu Protection Equipment campaign encouraged occupational health for women farmers using innovative solutions for protection and awareness initiatives.
Industry Update: Global Programmes Advance Women in Business, Leadership and Sports
Governments, global institutions, and industry bodies unveiled new initiatives to expand women's leadership and economic participation across business, trade, healthcare, and sports. The UAE's General Women's Union and AD Ports Group launched the international track of the Atlaq Training Program to equip women worldwide with leadership, AI, logistics, and digital trade skills. To propel women-owned SMEs to scale, Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council and Publicis Groupe launched the second edition of Ra'idah, focusing on AI, marketing, mentoring, and business
coaching.
The World Bank Group and Visa Foundation also announced the launch of a global program to enhance women's access to finance, digital tools and business training in India, South Africa, Nigeria, Colombia and Mexico. In order to support women entrepreneurs to access the international halal market, MATRADE therefore introduced the MATRADE Women in Export (WiEX) platform at MIHAS 2026 which will provide various business matching, networking and export facilitation services to enhance the exportability of women entrepreneurs. In the interim, First women from 12 African and Asian nations met at the Merck Foundation to discuss ways to bolster healthcare, girls' education, and women's empowerment via medical scholarships and joint programmes.
The sports industry also made major strides with the first-ever Women in Golf Leadership Foundation Program in India being launched by The R&A, with the DP World India Championship Legacy Fund as its backer.

From AI and banking to retail, media, sustainability, and global finance, this edition highlights six notable leadership appointments shaping business growth and innovation.
The organizations of diverse industries have announced key leadership appointments to drive strategic growth, digital transformation, and innovation. Genpact has brought on board Pallavi A. Singh as Vice President – AI & Data Advisory, bringing with her over 17 years of experience to organizations to assist them in their AI strategy and data transformation.
Rini Nandy has joined babyshop India as Head of Marketing, to enhance the brand's strategy and customer engagement. Banking reforms, governance and transparency have been reinforced with Shaimaa Abbas Huwairf being the first woman Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq.
IDFC FIRST Bank has appointed Rajani Menon Pillai as Head – Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) with a proven history of more than 20 years of delivering solutions to improve enterprise governance and digital transformation programs. In the meantime, Heena Motwani has been promoted as Senior Vice President – Digital Investments, Marketplaces & Partnerships at WPP Media, where she will spearhead the WPP Hindustan Unilever business and further digital commerce capabilities.
Choi Min-young of Novelis Korea completed the week's leadership updates by becoming the first Chair of the Aluminum Committee of the Korea Nonferrous Metals Association, where she will promote recycling, the circular economy and sustainable development of the industry.
These roles have been a reflection of the organisations' focus on innovation, governance, sustainability and customer focused growth.
Growth Capital & Expansion Moves: Funding the Next Phase of Business Growth
Funding rounds driving retail expansion, product innovation, and consumer brand growth.
Aukera has raised ₹90 crore in debts funding, which was led by Alteria Capital along with partners from InnoVen Capital, Lighthouse Canton and a top bank. As demand for sustainable jewellery grows all over India, the investment will aid the lab-grown diamond jewellery brand in expanding its retail presence, enhancing the omnichannel capabilities, and speeding up product innovation.
On the other hand, startup in the maternal and baby care segment Promom has raised an investment of ₹30 crore in its fund rising round with Fireside Ventures. The fresh capital will be used for product innovation, product portfolio growth, research and increased distribution of its low cost maternal and infant care solutions.

In the world of sports, women have made impressive strides; in business, they are proving to be outstanding entrepreneurs; and in society, they are making a difference. Whether it's in sports, business or society, women around the world are making impressive milestones.
Indian pacer Yastika Bhatia also claimed her maiden Test century at Lord's, marking her career-best score against England in just a few months since her ACL surgery. Her historic knock put her on the Lord's honours board and in good stead for India's commanding dominance in the one-off Test.
Naib Subedar Neeru Dhanda became the first Indian woman to win gold in ISSF Trap World Cup. Before facing former world champion Carole Cormenier, she had set a national qualifying record, which had helped Indian women shoot in the league of the rest of the world.
Priyanka Nahata, the Founder of Drape in Vogue and Piccolo, was honored with the Women Leadership Excellence Award at the HT Media Crafting Bharat Business Conclave & Awards 2026 for her visionary leadership, innovation, and dedication to the fashion and lifestyle sector in India, inspiring women entrepreneurs along the way.
In the meantime, Dr. Nandini Azad was given the Bharat Samman 2026 for her contribution to the cause of women empowerment, grassroots development and social justice for many years. She has thus far helped more than 615,000 women gain financial inclusion and become entrepreneurs and leaders through the Working Women's Forum and Indian Cooperative Network for Women – reinforcing the potential of community-led development to transform lives.
Sports Central: Rising Stars, Historic Wins & Record-Breaking Performances
Celebrating outstanding victories, record-breaking feats, and emerging sporting talent worldwide.
Indian athletes delivered remarkable performances across cricket, boxing, and shooting, reinforcing the country's growing sporting excellence.
India won 16 medals at the inaugural Asian U23 Athletics Championships 2026, with women athletes shining in relays, hurdles, and middle-distance events, led by Shravani Sangle’s three-medal haul. At the Asian U-19 & U-23 Boxing Championships in Jakarta, India finished with an impressive 19 medals, including five gold, 10 silver, and four bronze. Gold medallists Chandrika Bhoresh Pujari, Prachi, and Nisha led India's strong campaign, helping the women's team secure third place overall and highlighting the nation's rising dominance in youth boxing.
