Naib Subedar Neeru Dhanda created history in Indian shooting by winning the ISSF World Cup gold medal in Trap Shooting. The title makes her the first female Indian to earn such an accolade in shooting.

The 26-year-old Naib Subedar’s brilliant performance helped her emerge victorious against former World Champion, Carole Cormenier from France. Neeru exhibited great consistency in her performance during the tournament by recording a new national record of 121/125 in the qualifying round followed by an excellent 27/30 in the finals.

Trained under Peter Wilson, her success is an indication of the importance of resilience, hard work, and dedication. This achievement has not only raised India’s reputation in the sport of shooting but has also inspired many women aspirants in the country.

Commenting on her training, vision, and execution Neeru said, "When you compete alongside a world champion, you have to believe you are a champion too. I blocked out everything else and focused completely on my own routine. It didn't matter to me who was hitting or missing around me. Nothing is impossible when you stay calm, live in the present, and train with absolute focus."
