Odisha Disburses INR 20,648 Crore to over 1 Crore Women

Under the Subhadra Yojana scheme, the Odisha government has released an amount exceeding ₹20,648 crores to over one crore female beneficiaries in four instalments. It has been stated that the fifth instalment which includes an amount of ₹5,000 each beneficiary will be released in the month of August, Rakshabandhan (Rakhi Purnima).
The Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida had reviewed the progress of the scheme before its distribution and instructed officials to verify field verification of all remaining applications till 25 July. The scheme operates with the objective of empowering women economically.
Speaking to the media, Pravati said that there were close to 3.53 lakh applications pending their field verification process, which is an essential step towards the beneficiary verification process of the Subhadra Yojana.
She mentioned that once the applications get verified, they will be scrutinized by the Block Level Committee before moving forward to the District authorities and finally the State Government, whereupon the eligible women will be provided with their ₹5,000 installment. She also added that there were many pending applications because of incomplete e-KYC, biometric verification, and bank account verification.

As per official records, there have been 1.15 crore registrations till now under the Subhadra Yojana scheme, with the number of new registrations being 3.17 lakh in the financial year 2026–27. After the completion of the eligibility criteria analysis stage, 1.02 crore females have been shortlisted to receive benefits in the fifth cycle of disbursement. After district-level scrutiny of the list, 5,277 people have been deleted from the list due to death and the final count of the beneficiaries stands at 1.01 crore.
At the review meeting, Pravati assessed the progress made on key operations in preparation for the fifth installment of the Subhadra Yojana that involved the processes of DBT Activation, Biometric e-KYC, field verification, NPCI Mapping, preparation of Payment File, and coordination with banking partners.
She asked the officials to ensure that all pending cases are sorted out and there is close coordination between departments for each process to be done within the stipulated time period. Reiterating the need for timely, transparent, and accurate transfer of payments, Pravati asked all the executing organizations to remain fully prepared to collaborate with field officials, technical partners, and banks for benefit transfer to all women beneficiaries.
Unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bhubaneswar on 17th September, 2024, Subhadra Yojana is a flagship scheme introduced by the Government of Odisha. This scheme benefits all those women who fall in the age group of 21 to 60 years and provides an amount of ₹50,000 for five years, helping in securing their finances and gaining self-reliance. Each beneficiary receives ₹10,000 annually, which is provided in two installments of ₹5,000 each year on International Women's Day and Raksha Bandhan respectively.
