UAE Expands Atlaq Program to Train Women in Digital Trade

The General Women's Union (GWU), in partnership with AD Ports Group, has officially launched the international track of the Atlaq Training Program under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. The announcement was made during the Equality Dialogue: AI, Trade, and Inclusive Digital Entrepreneurship session at the AI for Good Global Summit 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland.

The new international program aims to build leadership skills and knowledge for women in digital trade, logistics and global supply chain management. The program will be expanded beyond UAE to train women around the world for the opportunities in the digital economy, and encourage their involvement in the industries of the future and their inclusive growth.

This is the UAE's effort to share its positive women empowerment model globally," stated Her Excellency Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the General Women's Union. She commented that the program is based on the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak to provide women with the skills in strategic economic sectors.

Al Suwaidi also recognized the contribution of AD Ports Group in developing the program, noting the expertise the company has in digital trade and logistics, which has helped to build an internationally relevant training platform.

The international track of the Atlaq program equips women with enhanced knowledge and leadership skills to grasp the international trade systems, adapt to changing industry needs, and participate in the creation of innovative and sustainable business ecosystems, aligning with our conviction that women's involvement is a crucial component of a robust and inclusive global digital economy, she added.

“The partnership reflects AD Ports Group's efforts to move the UAE's vision of empowering women and investing in future talent forward”, said Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group. The international track leverages the group's global logistics, trade and digital transformation experience to equip women for success in a changing global business environment, he added.

“The primary focus of innovation and sustainable growth is developing human capital. The program will be used to spread the UAE's expertise globally, and to train female leaders to face the fast-changing landscape of global trade and supply chains," Mohamed Juma said.

Eng. Head of Strategic and Development Affairs at the General Women's Union, Ghalia Ali Al Mannaee explained that the Mother of the Emirates 50:50 vision is continued at the international track through the process of making international partnerships material into learning opportunities for women.

This revamped curriculum, designed by AD Ports Group experts, emphasizes in artificial intelligence, digital solutions, shipping data analytics, smart logistics, agile methodologies, and cybersecurity. Through four integrated learning phases, participants will explore the basics of digital trade, smart logistics solutions, global supply chain management and cyber security, with a particular focus on empowering women for success in the global digital economy through workshops, hands-on training and career mentorship.
