Women's Day: Women Tech Founders Fuelling India's Digital Economy
By: WE Staff
Greeshma Unnikrishnan, Co-Founder & COO, Medprime Technologies

Greeshma is an entrepreneur and technology leader who drives fundraising, investor relations, and business growth while leading sales and development initiatives in healthcare innovation.
As a woman entrepreneur shaping India & digital future, what drives your passion for tech?
My passion for technology is rooted in its power to solve challenges that seem impossible. My journey as an entrepreneur began at IIT, where I joined a team of innovators who believed engineering could solve real-world healthcare gaps. I am driven by the Make in India spirit—the challenge of creating high-quality, indigenous medical devices that don’t compromise on integrity to beat the competition. Seeing a digital microscope provide expert-level diagnosis to a remote tribal region, where patients previously waited five days for results, is what fuels my dedication to this field.
How do you intend to build the services/expertise of Medprime to strengthen India’s tech capabilities?
At Medprime, we are building an ecosystem of digital pathology that moves beyond traditional hardware. Our focus is on integrating AI and cloud computing into microscopy through our MICALYS and CILIKA platforms. By automating slide scanning and enabling real-time telepathology, we are transforming diagnostic labs into high-tech hubs. We intend to strengthen India’s capabilities by localizing the manufacturing of advanced imaging systems and developing AI modules that assist pathologists in faster, more accurate decision-making.
Our goal is to position India as a global leader in accessible, tech-driven medical diagnostics.
On Women’s Day, what is the one change you hope to see in larger tech landscape that will empower future women leaders?
This Women’s Day, the one change I hope to see is the normalization of women in core technical and operational leadership roles. While we see many women in HR or marketing, the larger tech landscape still lacks enough female voices in R&D, manufacturing, and deep-tech strategy. I want to see the industry actively create pathways for women to lead high-stakes engineering projects. When young girls see women managing factory floors and scaling AI startups, the glass ceiling will finally become a relic of the past.
