Women's Day: Women Founders on Capital Raising & Collective Support

By: WE Staff

As International Women’s Day is approaching, discussions on women’s empowerment are again at the forefront, underscoring the increasing influence of women in entrepreneurship. Women all over the world are coming forward as entrepreneurs, innovators and changemakers, creating businesses that are not only profitable for the economy, but also fulfilling for society and communities.

Numerous women founders have said that their entrepreneurial journey was more of a natural evolution and focused on their mission and solving problems. However, there are also women who had to challenge the gender stereotypes and societal expectations in order to become leaders. The problem of getting finance has not been solved yet as women are being more critically examined and have fewer connections within the investment community. On the other hand, determination, trustworthiness and performance have played a big role in changing investors' attitudes and creating more chances for female-owned businesses.

Also, of prime importance is the role of mentorship, visibility and women supporting women, whether it is through mentoring, networking, or investing, and how it is further strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

This Women's Day, five remarkable entrepreneurs Aanchal Saini, Niharika Jalan, Zaiba Sarang, Dr. Preet Sandhu, and Madhumita Agrawal shared their entrepreneurial journeys, the reality of fundraising for women founders and how mentorship, networks and collective support can empower the next generation of women entrepreneurs.
