To strengthen pay transparency and accountability, New Jersey has launched a Gender Pay Gap Reporting Toolkit, designed to empower organizations employing over 50 FTEs. The initiative is a joint effort by The Institute of Directors (IoD) Jersey, Mind the Gap Community, and MyAnova, supported by Scotland’s Close the Gap group and endorsed by the Government of Jersey.
Offering ease of access, the toolkit is freely available for download via the Jersey Business website. Enhancing quality and strengthening corporate integrity, the IoD globally promotes transparent reporting and actionable strategies driving gender growth.
Co-founded in March 2024 by Alex Ruddy, Chair of IoD Jersey, with Kate Wright and Lesley Mourant, the Mind the Gap Community represents a network of 200+ women leaders and advocates. The group supports gender pay gap reporting as a strategic lever for equity, stressing that underutilized female talent hinders business performance and economic progress.
IoD Jersey Chair Alex Ruddy and co-founder of the Mind the Gap Community stated: “On behalf of the Mind the Gap Community and IoD, we are delighted to launch the toolkit. Feedback from businesses with over 50 FTEs as to why they were reluctant to report was largely attributed to a fear of increased cost and resource to report the gender pay gap, rather than a reluctance to understand their GPG in order to formulate a strategy. We are hopeful that, by providing a toolkit, we alleviate the perceived burden.”
She also said that she is thankful to Close the Gap Scotland, Lynn Cleary, and Jenny Winspear for playing vital roles in creating the toolkit, and the Department of the Economy for their partnership in refining Jersey’s approach. Fostering a culture embedded in gender equity, allows organizations to gain competitive advantage with diverse recruitment, improved staff retention, cost efficiency, and elevated workplace productivity.
