India Wins First Women's T20 Blind Cricket World Cup

India created history by winning the first-ever Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind, defeating Nepal by seven wickets in Sri Lanka. Led by captain Deepika TC, the team chased 114 with confidence, powered by an exceptional 44 off 27 balls from Phula Saren, a young talent from rural Odisha. The victory was deeply emotional, especially as many players come from underprivileged backgrounds and discovered cricket through blind schools and grassroots programs. The Sri Lankan Prime Minister presented the trophy, and sponsors announced ₹1 lakh for each player, marking a major milestone for inclusivity and recognition in women’s cricket.
19-Year-Old Divya Deshmukh Stuns Koneru Humpy to Win FIDE Women's World Cup

At just 19, Divya Deshmukh shocked the chess world by defeating veteran champion Koneru Humpy to win the FIDE Women’s World Cup 2025. After tight classical draws, Divya displayed remarkable composure in the rapid tiebreaks, capitalizing on Humpy’s late endgame errors to clinch victory. Her win not only earned her the World Cup crown but also secured her final Grandmaster norm, making her India’s fourth woman Grandmaster. Throughout the tournament, Divya toppled top seeds with fearless play, precise preparation, and unwavering calm, positioning herself as a powerful new force in global chess and a symbol of India’s rising youth talent.
