Which mentorship program best supports women’s advancement?

Two mentorship initiatives that have significantly supported women’s advancement in my journey are Smartference and the Empower Program. Smartference provides a dynamic platform focused on leadership development, professional networking, and structured mentorship. It creates a supportive ecosystem where women professionals share experiences, learn from industry leaders, and build the confidence required to step into leadership roles.

The Empower Program complements this by emphasizing self-leadership, skill enhancement, and strategic career growth. It encourages women to recognize their strengths, overcome self-doubt, and pursue opportunities aligned with their aspirations. Through structured mentoring, peer collaboration, and leadership exposure, the program nurtures resilience and executive presence.

These programs became even more impactful through my volunteering journey with the Project Management Institute Kerala Chapter. The mentorship insights I gained were directly applied in real-world leadership responsibilities within the chapter, creating a powerful cycle of learning and execution.

The most effective mentorship model is therefore one that integrates structured development, leadership exposure, measurable growth outcomes, and community- based learning — transforming capability into visible impact.

How have these mentorship programs transformed women’s careers?

Smartference and the Empower Program transform women’s careers by:

  • Building confidence and a leadership mindset.
  • Providing access to experienced mentors and role models
  • Expanding professional networks
  • Encouraging strategic career decisions
  • Increasing visibility in leadership and community platforms

In my own journey, these programs helped me evolve from a technical contributor to a confident leader. They strengthened my communication skills, sharpened my strategic thinking, and encouraged me to step forward for greater responsibilities.

As a volunteer with the Project Management Institute Kerala Chapter, I had the opportunity to lead initiatives, collaborate with diverse professionals, and contribute meaningfully to the project management community. This experience enhanced my stakeholder management capability, broadened my strategic perspective, and accelerated my professional transformation.

The combined impact of Smartference, the Empower Program, and my PMI leadership journey has shaped me into a purpose-driven leader committed to mentoring and uplifting other women. Most importantly, the confidence gained through structured mentorship creates a ripple effect — empowered women step forward to mentor others, strengthening inclusive leadership pipelines and contributing to sustainable organizational capability development. Beyond personal growth, the impact extended to my organization. Applying mentorship-driven leadership principles, I contributed to strengthening training governance and capability development systems within HLL Lifecare Limited. This ultimately supported institutional readiness and long-term performance improvement.
