Masai Launches Season 2 of 'EmpowerHer'-A Free Tech Scholarship for Indian Women

By: WE Staff | Thursday, 14 August 2025

  • Masai, India's top outcome-based education platform, has rolled out Season 2 of its 'EmpowerHer' initiative
  • The program provides a 100% scholarship to women in India to acquire technology skills and pursue careers in the tech sector
  • Aimed at empowering women to overcome economic constraints and join high-growth tech segments

Masai, India's premier outcome-based education platform has launched Season 2 of its 'EmpowerHer' initiative, a complete scholarship in technology for Indian women to empower them to achieve prosperous careers in technology. The program is being launched in collaboration with the Korea Social Investment Foundation (KSIF) and is being supported by AVPN, Asia's most prominent social investor network.

While women constitute almost half the population in India, they hold only 32 percent of all jobs in India's technology industry, and many fewer hold mainstream engineering positions.

Underrepresentation denies women access to secure, well-paying work and discourages women from being part of the digital economy. The EmpowerHer solution rectifies the imbalance by providing structured, results-focused technology training for women specifically—at no out-of-pocket cost.

Accessible to women from all levels of education, i.e., B.Com, B.Sc., Class 12 graduates; EmpowerHer specifically invites participation from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities where high-quality tech education is not easily accessible. No coding background or technical degree is needed.

The course is specifically designed for women who are new to technology, returning to work after a career break, or changing their profession from non-technical. The course includes an intensive Web Development Bootcamp of five months, followed by two months of internship and placement assistance.

Live online classes are held Monday through Friday, making it easily accessible to participants with their own or family commitments. Besides technical skills, the participants are also mentored, career-advised, and provided with hands-on project experience.

Looking back on the launch, Co-founder and CEO of Masai Prateek Shukla remarked:

“We’re bringing back EmpowerHer after the outstanding success of Season 1, where women from diverse backgrounds successfully entered the tech workforce. Season 2 builds on that momentum with greater scale and intent. Unlike traditional models that cater to a small, privileged segment, EmpowerHer is designed for inclusivity—offering live classes, hands-on projects, internships, and mentorship at zero upfront cost to make women job-ready and confident in tech.”

Soon Youl Lee, KSIF CEO, stated,

"At KSIF we believe education and employment can lead to transformative social change. EmpowerHer fits perfectly with our vision and work in supporting initiatives that contribute to meaningful and sustainable change. By sponsoring this program, we are investing in a future where more women are working and shaping the tech industry. We are happy to partner with Masai to create this inclusive and outcome-focused initiative."

With its unique combination of skill development, employment and accessibility, EmpowerHer Season 2 hopes it can make substantial progress in increasing women's representation in the Indian tech workforce and help create pathways towards economic independence.
