LU & CSJM Sign MoU with UP Government for Women & Child Deve

- University of Lucknow and Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJM), Kanpur, signed an agreement with the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Uttar Pradesh
- The agreement is to enhance women empowerment and child development programs in the state
In a step in the direction of children and women's empowerment, Lucknow University and Chhatrapati Shaju Ji Maharaj University (CSJM), Kanpur, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Uttar Pradesh's Department of Women and Child Development.
The MoU was signed at the Judicial Training and Research Institute in Lucknow by Manuka Khanna, Officiating Vice-Chancellor, University of Lucknow, Vinay Pathak, Vice-Chancellor, CSJM Kanpur, and Sandeep Kaur, Director, Department of Women and Child Development.
According to the arrangements of the MoU, social work, sociology, psychology, and law department students will engage with child care institutions (CCIs) through internship, fieldwork, research studies, and social audits.
Faculty members and research scholars will collaborate for capacity-building, training programmes, and sensitization programmes, including the Juvenile Justice Act, POCSO Act, and children's rights.
The accord intends to give educational, cultural, health and life-skills assistance to children living in CCIs. It also aims to provide working learning experience to university students through training, internship, and research, and instill a spirit of responsible citizenship.
Moreover, the MoU is also aimed at enhancing current departmental schemes and programs through university academic and research assistance.
The MoU is also intended to enhance personality development, leadership, and employability skills in children and students.
Field exposure and cooperation will be extended by CCIs to ensure students get practical experience while putting forward recommendations from research and audits to be effectively implemented.
"There will definitely be a catalytic impact on the life of vulnerable children, and moreover, it is a truly great example of how higher education can be engaged with society," asserted Vinay Pathak.
Also speaking to the collaborative project, Durgesh Srivastava, also of the University of Lucknow, asserted: "This initiative reinforces the vision of the University of Lucknow to bridge academic excellence with society engagement."
