With the mass penetration of the Internet and mobile devices across developing nations in the past decade, the need for businesses to adapt to the dynamic landscape of the world wide web has become inevitable. The pandemic has accelerated the adaption of digital media and digital workplace solutions. Therefore, the demand for technology partners who help organizations undertake digital transformation projects and information technology solutions is also skyrocketing. The market growth of the segment is evident in the numbers as well, as the technology solution services market is expected to register a growth of about 10.36 percent during the forecast period of 2022-2027. Further, the steep rise in IT investment, along with the widespread use of software-as-a-service, digital workplace solutions and Cloud-based products, show that there is a global need for IT services.

Take us through your early educational journey and the prior industry experience that you bring to the table.
I draw heavily on my experiences in Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations and Branding, at reputed organizations with an interest in creating and implementing impactful campaigns and programs. I hold a Masters in Communication and Journalism from the University of Mysore and a Bachelor’s in Journalism, English and Economics. In 2018, I also completed a short online course from the Harvard Center for International Development called “The Practice of PDIA: Building Capability by Delivering Results”.
Most recently, I completed a course called “Transitioning into Leadership: A Programme for Women Executives (TLPWE),” a one-year, online program. It is designed exclusively for women executives and entrepreneurs to help them hone, focus, and channelize their natural leadership qualities to emerge as successful leaders in the workplace. I have worked with some of India’s leading newspapers and companies at respectable capacities including Bangalore Mirror (The Times of India Group) as a reporter, DNA as a senior reporter, Infosys as a Social Media Associate, Hill and Knowlton as a consultant for the Karnataka State Government and with Infinite as a marketing manager. My collective experiences in various industries help me bring fresh perspectives to the table and find innovative ideas to implement in the workplace.
Share your roles and responsibilities at unisys? What are your primary focus areas in your current role?
I look after a small team that does big things! We collaborate closely with the associate-led councils made up of talent, DEI, CSR, and other components, which is a distinctive aspect of Unisys India. We collaborate with the global teams to keep communications consistent across geographies. Our efforts also go into developing, planning, and carrying out internal and external events. PR is a very integral part of our charter and we strategize and plan extensively with our agency to narrate interesting stories about the company to the media. We are very conscious of our role in the tech world and we nurture our relationships with the industry bodies such as NASSCOM and CySeck. We organize events that are industry relevant and impactful.
What are some of the most pressing challenges that you encounter in your current role? How do you successfully mitigate these challenges?
We must keep in mind that today's workplace is more diverse than ever. There are already more than a hundred different platforms available for sharing information. Employees receive information from a variety of sources, including social media and news outlets. Loading associates with information may be stressful and draining. Communication experts must understand the optimal level of communication and when it should be distributed. If communication experts do not have well-defined processes, information flow may be hindered. These procedures aid in the creation of workflows and, ultimately, the prompt dissemination of information to the target audience.
In your opinion what are some of the most significant milestones that you have achieved in your professional journey? What has been the driving force behind your success as a professional?
I believe in celebrating small wins. Small wins compound over time. In the early years of my career, I worked as a reporter with esteemed news dailies. Meeting people and telling their stories excited me. Even today, I love some of the stories I was able to work on. I also had a very meaningful job consulting for the state government and working with elected officials. I'm extremely satisfied presently to be able to lead a communications team in India and effectively share Unisys' stories with both internal and external audiences. I want to thank my family and peers who have always supported me. I am fortunate to work with executives at Unisys who support and motivate me in the initiatives I take on. A team I can rely on without a doubt is unquestionably a blessing.
“Learn every day. Invest in Yourself so that you can Uplift others. Strive to Become financially and Emotionally independent”
How do you foresee the indian pr and communications industry evolving going forward? How do you keep yourself aligned with periodic industry evolutions?
A few years ago, The old method to evaluate the effectiveness of PR was to collect and distribute to
the customers a bundle of cut-outs from articles and business-related news stories that had appeared in the media. Today, we have the resources to analyze the impact of stories, bylines, interviews, and publications in addition to disseminating information. To increase their presence in the media, PR professionals need to develop their data analytics skills. To incorporate transmedia communications into their marketing strategy, communication specialists must collaborate closely with the marketing team.
Drawing from your experience as a business leader, what would your advice be to young women who also aspire to become entrepreneurs in the future?
I have believed in all forms of education. Learning a new language or a new craft can never go waste. Learn every day. Invest in yourself so that you can uplift others. strive to become financially and emotionally independen.
