India's largest pharmaceutical company Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. has acquired the US-based Organon & Co. through an all-cash deal for a transaction enterprise value of $11.75 billion.

This acquisition will help Sun Pharma in transforming itself as a global pharmaceutical giant, together their combined revenue is estimated to be approximately $12.4 billion which places the combined entity among the top 25 global pharmaceutical companies and the top 3 players globally in women's health category. Besides, this acquisition will facilitate Sun Pharma's entry into top 7 players in biosimilars market.

Organon became a global healthcare company in 2021 through a spinoff from Merck, which is called MSD outside the U.S. and Canada.
