- Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) started the 'Shahoshi Rani' initiative in IPL 2025 to celebrate courageous women
- The initiative identifies those women who have exhibited great courage, determination, and strength when facing challenges
During the IPL 2025 season, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) launched the ‘Shahoshi Rani’ campaign to recognize and celebrate extraordinary women. Forty inspiring women, honored as 'Shahoshi Ranis' for their exceptional courage, resilience, and perseverance in overcoming challenges, were invited to attend KKR’s practice session ahead of their match against Chennai Super Kings.
These women went through something that they would not even dream of forgetting when they were greeting KKR players and co-owner Juhi Chawla. As a gesture of respect, KKR players even wore special practice jerseys with the names of the 'Shahoshi Ranis', which was an emotional and powerful gesture that touched the heart of the fans in IPL 2025.
Simultaneously, though relations between Pakistan and India continue to sour, a source with the BCCI has promised that IPL 2025 will be held on time.
Besides, the crew will be recording some of the highlights of the practice session, the motivating exchanges between the Shahoshi Ranis and the players. These tales will be told across digital platforms to highlight the strength and spirit these women embody, not only to the team, but to the world at large.
Talking about the initiative, Juhi Chawla, co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders, said as per the KKR press release, "Shahoshi Rani is more than a campaign, it's a celebration of real courage. These women are an inspiration, and we are honored to share our platform with them. We hope their stories move others as much as they've moved us."
The Shahoshi Rani initiative is one of a number of community-driven initiatives led by KKR, demonstrating their dedication to using sport as a force to create a positive difference, amplify voices that matter and inspire people beyond the cricket pitch.
