- AXA Global Business Services will collaborate with partners and NGOs to upskill and mentor girls interested in STEM
AXA has pledged to fund STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education for almost 10,000 disadvantaged girls in India by 2030 through its 'Dare To Thrive' programme.
Under the programme, AXA Global Business Services (GBS) will work with ecosystem partners and NGOs to identify the girls who are interested in STEM and train them. Assistance will be through scholarship grants, setting up computer labs, and desktop computer distribution.
As part of commemorating 40 years of the AXA Group, the company has joined hands with Pune-based Friends Union for Energising Lives (FUEL) in promoting STEM education for 40 girls in Bengaluru and Pune.
In the past few years, AXA GBS has enabled more than 2,500 girls through different industry partnerships and plans to increase its efforts.
The 'Dare To Thrive' program was officially initiated at the AXA GBS Bengaluru office in an event that was graced by Alexander Vollert, Group COO and CEO of AXA Group Operations; Marc Lamy, Consul General of France in Bengaluru; and Michele Rochefort, CEO of AXA GBS.
Incorporating inclusion into the way we work every day, AXA Global Business Services means bringing those who are socially and economically vulnerable in.
We advocate for providing equal access to protection and opportunity for everyone. AXA Global Business Services, through education, digital empowerment and community outreach, promotes the building and growing of those who need it the most.
Alexander said, "As a global leader in insurance, AXA and its affiliates are committed to empowering communities. Over the next five years, we will support STEM education for more than 10,000 Indian girls, supporting the transformation of society, while accelerating girl-child education, employability for girls, and inclusivity for the world. It is at the very heart of AXA's purpose: protect what matters"
According to Michele Rochefort, "The 'Dare To Thrive' program seeks to change the lives of tens of thousands of young girls, providing digital inclusion and benefits to families in need.
Our employees have volunteered their time and expertise for many years in community empowerment, which demonstrates our commitment to learning and development.
According to Ketan Deshpande, CEO of FUEL, "FUEL's mission to equip young girls in rural areas with the training, skills, and opportunities they need to be employable and confident. We are looking forward to partnering with AXA's 'Dare to Thrive' programme to create real change in the lives of these students."
