In the UAE, women hold prominent roles as Heads of Marketing, driving the nation's dynamic business landscape with their innovative strategies and creative vision. Among these trailblazers is Lailayan Almasri, a distinguished marketing leader recognized for her strategic prowess and unwavering dedication to excellence.
With a multicultural background and a deep understanding of diverse audiences, Lailayan brings a unique perspective to her role. Her tenure as the Chief Marketing Officer at Funding Pips in Dubai is marked by her ability to navigate complex market dynamics and drive impactful marketing initiatives.
Engaging in an idiosyncratic interaction with Women Entrepreneur magazine, Lailayan shares the imperious details of her journey as one of the influencing leaders in the UAE. Let’s delve into it.
Can you walk us through your extensive experience in marketing, highlight the key areas of expertise you've honed over the years?
Certainly! My journey in marketing has been nothing short of a roller-coaster of innovation and growth. One of my proudest achievements is the development of a unique optimization tool for search engine analysis. A standout moment was the relaunch of our brand, where I took a bold approach inspired by unconventional ideas like the Instagram egg phenomenon. Leveraging our brand's recognition, I orchestrated a teasing campaign that captured the audience's imagination and catapulted our company's visibility. My penchant for taking calculated risks and embracing all forms of publicity, good or bad, has defined my marketing philosophy.
I firmly believe that in the ever-evolving landscape of marketing, innovation & fearlessness are crucial
Please introduce us to Funding Pips and outline the responsibilities that come with your role as the company's Chief Marketing Officer.
Funding Pips is a cutting-edge trading firm offering aspiring traders a simulated evaluation course to prove their skills before accessing funded trading accounts ranging from $5,000 US to $100,000 US, with the potential to merge accounts into a $2 million portfolio.
My role as the company's Chief Marketing Officer is multifaceted. Firstly, I oversee the managerial aspects, providing mentorship and guidance to my team. Additionally, I take a hands-on approach to search engine optimization and meticulously analyze our marketing campaigns, ensuring they align with our objectives and market trends. I'm deeply involved in crafting our advertisements, utilizing human elements to resonate with our audience authentically. Furthermore, I handle copy-writing for our website, email marketing campaigns, and collaborate closely with HR to help develop internal policies that prioritize employee welfare.
What are some of the challenges in today's business environment for marketers? How do you navigate these obstacles?
From my perspective, one of the most pressing challenges facing marketers is adaptability to unforeseen circumstances, such as regulatory changes which can significantly impact operations. In our case, I utilize creative strategies and leverage our social media influencers to educate traders about new platforms. Another challenge is the ever-evolving digital landscape, where staying ahead of trends and algorithms is essential. Continuous learning and innovation are key to staying relevant and competitive, in my opinion.
Could you share a significant milestone from your professional journey? What has been your success mantra?
A significant milestone in my professional journey was transitioning from an account executive to a managerial role. Despite initial challenges in securing a managerial role, I seized the opportunity to work with UNICEF, where I gained valuable managerial experience. This role not only affirmed my capabilities but also equipped me with the confidence to pursue my career aspirations.
My success mantra include resilience, attention to detail, and a strong focus on building effective teams. Despite facing obstacles, I remained persistent in pursuing my goals, leveraging my stubbornness to drive me forward. My meticulous attention to detail ensures that decisions are based on thorough analysis and research, minimizing risks and maximizing opportunities for success. Additionally, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment has been essential.
Furthermore, my personal motivations, such as the desire to be a role model for my daughter and to follow in the footsteps of my mother, a respected professor in Business Administration, provide me with a sense of purpose and drive.
How do you anticipate the marketing landscape evolving in the UAE moving forward? Which industry trends do you believe will have the greatest impact?
As the world evolves, particularly in technology and IT, the marketing landscape in the UAE is poised for significant transformation. Dubai, in particular, is emerging as a hub for businesses, especially in sectors like artificial intelligence and the prop firm industry. This shift signifies a growing focus on innovation and cutting-edge technologies. I anticipate marketing strategies to become increasingly data-driven and personalized, leveraging advancements in AI to better understand and cater to consumer needs. Furthermore, as businesses prioritize sustainability and social responsibility, eco-friendly and socially conscious marketing initiatives are likely to gain traction.
