Aditi Gupta: Delivering Quick, Smart, Insightful Takes on Global News Minus the Noise

In a world where short form video content has taken over, attention spans are becoming shorter than trending reels and news cycles flip faster than Insta stories. With this content explosion, millennials and Gen Z find themselves consuming content rather than receiving accurate news and updates. Between 9 to 5s and doomscrolling, they miss what's happening globally. What could bridge this gap is a well researched and concise newsletter. This idea struck business consultant Aditi Gupta, who set out to create a quick-hit knowledge hub for fast-paced lives, with crisp insights delivered straight into readers’ inbox. Thus, she created a newsletter, Business Eye. Simultaneously, Aditi has also built a community based on a common goal of acquiring knowledge minus the clutter.
Graduating from the Amity Business School, Aditi began her career at Moody's as a consultant in the investment banking team. She worked at several other firms until, in May 2024, she launched Business Eye, transitioning from corporate roles to entrepreneurship.
Initially a solo effort, she built Business Eye into a venture with a team of writers, digital marketers, and designers. Starting with just 100 subscribers, Business Eye now boasts over one million global subscribers across regions like Asia-Pacific, the Americas, and Europe. The newsletter, initially collaboration-based, is now moving to a paid model covering topics beyond business and tech to include fashion, entertainment, and tourism.
How has your Alma Mater, Amity University, influenced your growth as a professional? What core values did the institution instill in you?
The core values I picked at Amity University shaped my professional and personal journey, especially in terms of ethics and culture. Amity didn’t just prepare me to work in an organization, it taught me the importance of cultivating the right organizational culture. It has been a huge support system throughout as I completed both my undergrad and postgrad there, was involved in seminars, and got international exposure as well. I even started working for two startups while pursuing my MBA. I have been a scholar student for five years, and I still stay in touch with my mentor, Dr Sanjeev Bansal.
Take us through your professional journey as a business consultant. What are the key areas of expertise that you developed while working in the industry?
Working at Moody's, I was with the investment banking team. I interacted with investment bankers across India and globally, which gave me great exposure. I switched to KPMG and stepped into corporate finance, where the journey was incredible. As a consultant, I got to work across industries like pharma and energy and learned about how businesses operate and where economies are heading. However, I wanted to do something of my own.
Leaving stability at the peak of your career is a big risk, but I felt ready. I used my experience, knowledge, and ethical and cultural lessons in building something new.
What’s the underlying idea behind Business Eye? What does the venture specialize in?
My idea was to create a newsletter that delivers facts but with context, opinion, and even a bit of humor.
In today's fast-paced world of millennials and zoomers, no one has time to sit and watch traditional news. People want quick, smart, insightful takes through the convenience of mobile devices.
Business Eye isn't just a weekly newsletter, it's a complete publication that's super active on social media too. We mix news, facts, and humor, and while the name suggests it's all about business, we have now expanded way beyond that. We cover tech, AI, entertainment, tourism, fashion, culture, consumer behavior, and market trends. Everything that helps people understand what's going on in the world, but with a fresh, opinionated take.
Having the confidence to make the right decisions at the right time leads to Success
How do you ensure that quality content is delivered to your readers?
Business Eye aims to build a community for millennials and Gen Z, providing meaningful opinions and facts in a fast-paced world, ensuring they stay updated with the latest news with the convenience of mobile devices.
As the founder, I ensure that our writers don’t just put out recycled content, rather, they research, fact-check, and share their perspectives. That's what makes us different. We make sure the right people get the right content and not just more noise.
I work with writers, the content team, the social media and digital marketing folks, and even the finance team. Whether it's planning content, reviewing strategies, or tracking ROI, I am in it all. I don't look at myself as ‘the boss’, I am part of the team that helped us grow.
What challenges do you encounter as a young entrepreneur in the Indian startup landscape. How do you successfully overcome the challenges?
Being at the peak of my corporate career, just a step away from becoming an Associate Director and transitioning to become an entrepreneur, was not an easy decision. Choosing to step away and start something of my own meant stepping into uncertainty.
I didn't know how much I needed to invest, what the ROI would be, or how fast the growth would come. But I always believed that if you truly believe in something, and you are willing to put in the right effort with a clear vision, you can make it.
Everyone has ideas, but it's about having that right vision and making decisions at the right time. People suggested making it a paid newsletter at the beginning of Business Eye, but I know it wasn't the right time as, first, we need to build the right audience, right numbers, and earn that trust. Presently, we have hit over a million subscribers and feel confident that the content we are putting out is of value, and our subscribers look forward to it every week.
As a woman entrepreneur, there were many opinions thrown my way, but what matters is believing in yourself, your idea, and your team. For me, it’s never been about giving directions. I work alongside my team, guiding them, learning with them, and building this journey together.
Looking back at your journey, what has been your guiding leadership philosophy? What is your ‘success mantra’?
The biggest guiding philosophy hasn't just been about having a vision or a creative idea, it's about believing in what I am setting out to do. Having the confidence to make the right decisions at the right time has helped me the most.
A lot of entrepreneurs focus only on having a super-creative idea or flashy website or big numbers, thinking that’s what leads to success. The truth is, there are so many people with brilliant and unique ideas. What sets things apart is the ability to execute, to make bold decisions, take calculated risks, and know when to act. That’s what I truly believe has made the difference in my journey.
