Nikita Kumawat: Rewriting India's Manufacturing Story Through Vision &

By: Nikita Kumawat, Co-Founder & Managing Director, Brandworks Technologies | Thursday, 20 November 2025

The manufacturing story of modern India is being rewritten through innovation and inclusion. A silent revolution is unfolding, being led by visionaries who merge engineering excellence with human purpose.

Having developed a new template for what ‘Made in India’ can really stand for, Nikita Kumawat, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Brandworks Technologies, stands at the very epicentre of the revolution.

Armed with an engineer's precision and a leader's compassion, Nikita transformed a modest power bank assembly facility into India’s first design-driven, R&D-led electronics manufacturing powerhouse, producing over two million electronic units every month for top Indian and international brands.

What started as a small Mumbai workshop now extends to three state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, being driven by automation and an unyielding passion for quality.

Nikita’s decision to give up a secure corporate career that spanned industry leading companies such as Tata Communications, Tech Mahindra and EY was not one of risk, but of purpose. She envisioned de-risking India's reliance on foreign electronics and build an ecosystem that empowers people along with technology.

Under her leadership, Brandworks Technologies is now at the forefront of India's electronics revolution, spearheading lithium-ion R&D innovation, IoT R&D innovation and incubation of startups while enabling more than 1300 women to play active roles as manufacturing leaders.

In an interview with Women Entrepreneurs Review, Nikita talks about her inspiring journey of making ambition work, transforming India's electronics sector with precision and people at the centre.

I aim not just to power devices, but to power change—building an inclusive manufacturing ecosystem that empowers innovation and people

What inspired your move from the corporate world to entrepreneurship?

With a degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, I began my career in the early 2010s with Tata Communications, Tech Mahindra, and EY, where I honed my expertise in technology and process design. Influenced by my parents and industry leaders, I developed a belief that innovation-driven enterprises can create value for both stakeholders and society.

In 2017, noticing India’s dependence on imported electronics, I was inspired to contribute to the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat missions by building a local manufacturing ecosystem. Leaving behind a stable corporate career, I founded Brandworks Technologies, starting with a modest power bank assembly unit in Mumbai.

Today, we operate as a full-service OEM and ODM provider, offering end-to-end electronics manufacturing solutions. As global demand for electronics rises, India’s manufacturing sector, projected to reach $300 billion by 2026, continues to drive national growth under government-led initiatives like Make in India and PLI.

Introduce us to Brandworks Technologies.

At Brandworks Technologies, we’ve built a precision-driven manufacturing ecosystem defined by innovation and agility. Supported by over 50 design and tooling partners, our localized supply chain ensures quality, cost efficiency, and faster delivery cycles—boosted further by a proprietary tool that cuts sourcing time by 30 percent.

From power banks, GaN chargers, and sound bars to UPI soundboxes, POS terminals, and surveillance devices, we design and manufacture products that combine function, form, and reliability.

What key challenges do you face, and how do partnerships drive your mission?

As demand grew, we diversified from mobile accessories and wearables into IoT devices, eventually building a full portfolio of smart electronics. Scaling amid component shortages, pandemic disruptions, and evolving partnerships tested my leadership; strengthening my ability to lead with clarity and emotional intelligence.

Innovation remains our core. We pioneered modular TWS earbuds with customizable modules, ANC, low-latency Bluetooth, and wireless charging, setting benchmarks in design and performance. Future-focused, we continue investing in R&D, automation, and localized supply chains while expanding into automotive electronics, healthcare devices, and smart city infrastructure.

Through an MoU with India’s Ministry of Electronics & IT, we are driving lithium-ion battery innovation, emphasizing high-density, fast-charging designs, sustainability, and workforce development by training 500+ technicians by 2030. Under our DPIIT-backed BIRF initiative, we are also nurturing India’s electronics startup ecosystem by providing lab-to-market support, advanced prototyping, and R&D tools to incubate 200+ startups in five years.

Importantly, our automotive bike and car cluster and EV charger are currently under development, marking our strategic entry into the fast-growing electric mobility ecosystem.

To further strengthen innovation, Brandworks Technologies is also setting up a dedicated Design Centre in Taiwan, aimed at scaling our R&D, design, engineering, and operations teams, and fostering collaboration with global technology partners.

Which professional milestones and values define your journey in manufacturing?

A major milestone came when we secured business with over 40 leading Indian electronics brands and began expanding into GCC markets like the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain. Today, Brandworks Technologies operates three advanced plants in western Mumbai, spanning over 3.2 lakh sq. ft., with 45+ production lines powered by SAP and MES systems.

Driven by my commitment to women’s empowerment, we’ve created employment and training opportunities for over 1,300 women, who now make up 70 percent of our workforce, many in supervisory roles. We deliver over two million units monthly and are growing at 75 percent year-over-year.

Our inclusive workplace prioritizes safety, no-overtime policies, and continuous skill development.

How do your values and vision shape your leadership journey?

As a leader, I strive to lead with empathy, vision, and purpose. Guided by principles of transparency, collaboration, and inclusivity, I believe in fostering an environment where every individual can learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully.

My mantra, “Anything is Possible,” reflects my faith in both individual agency and collective strength, while “Grow More Human” underscores my commitment to blending technology with empathy.

I’m passionate about inspiring the next generation of women in tech and manufacturing; encouraging them to dream big, innovate fearlessly, and see setbacks as opportunities to grow.

Our collective dedication has earned recognitions for advancing India’s industrial progress and promoting gender equity. Through my work, I aim to not just power devices, but to power change; building inclusive manufacturing ecosystems that empower innovation, people, and the future of leadership.
