From your earliest days in hospitality to leading iconic luxury properties, how did your curiosity, instincts, and experiences shape a leadership style that balances vision with operational excellence?

From the very beginning of my journey in hospitality, my vision was clear to present India’s extraordinary heritage, craftsmanship, and cultural depth to the world through the hotels we create. My curiosity led me to look beyond operations and into storytelling of how architecture, design, cuisine, and service can together narrate a larger cultural narrative.

Every palace we develop is conceived as a living canvas. Each corridor, each artefact, each culinary concept carries a story deeply intertwined with regional history and artistry. While my instinct drives the creative vision, operational excellence ensures that this vision is delivered seamlessly and consistently. For me, leadership is about marrying imagination with precision creating spaces that inspire awe, yet function with quiet perfection.

As you bring your perspective to Raffles and Fairmont, how do you infuse your personal philosophy into every guest interaction, design detail, and team collaboration?

At both Raffles and Fairmont, my philosophy is simple every guest must feel like royalty. Luxury, in its truest sense, is deeply personal. Each of our hotels carries its own palace crest and mascot, symbolising its identity and spirit. Our design elements from bespoke brass-finished dispensers reminiscent of India’s forgotten palaces to signature fragrances inspired by delicate, locally rooted feminine notes are thoughtfully curated to evoke emotion and memory.

Beyond aesthetics, it is about collaboration. When teams understand the story behind every detail, service becomes more intuitive and heartfelt. Distinctive experiences are not manufactured; they are felt and that feeling begins with purpose-driven design and passionate teams.

Luxury hospitality evolves constantly. How do you anticipate trends, blend innovation with timeless service, and ensure your properties remain both culturally rooted and globally aspirational?

True luxury is not about following trends; it is about setting them while remaining rooted in authenticity. Our vision has always been to revive and reinterpret the forgotten palaces of India. We provide a platform for local artisans to showcase generational craftsmanship from intricate Thikri mirror work and Aaraish plaster techniques to hand-painted murals and traditional inlay artistry.

At the same time, we integrate modern sustainability practices across our properties, ensuring that innovation complements heritage. By balancing timeless service values with contemporary sensibilities, we create hotels that resonate globally while remaining proudly Indian at heart.

How do you cultivate a workplace where creativity, inclusion, and passion drive performance, yet every team member feels valued and heard daily?

Culture is the foundation of excellence. We foster a strong sense of family across our Fairmont and Raffles teams. Monthly celebrations, including shared birthday gatherings, bring our people together beyond operational roles. Our Human Resources team plays a vital role in nurturing an inclusive environment, and we are proud to employ especially abled team members as part of our commitment to diversity and equal opportunity.

Each butler is empowered with a dedicated experiential budget to curate personalised moments and locally crafted gifts for guests encouraging creativity at every level. Our annual celebrations invite team members’ families to experience their loved ones’ “home away from home,” reinforcing pride, belonging, and emotional connection. When people feel valued, performance naturally follows.

In steering multiple iconic properties, how do you balance strategic foresight, operational rigor, and emotional intelligence to create environments where guests and employees thrive?

Leadership, to me, is about clarity of vision and openness of heart.  While we continuously innovate and redefine guest experiences, I remain deeply accessible to my teams. My door is always open for dialogue, feedback, and new ideas. Strategic foresight ensures we remain ahead of the curve, operational discipline maintains excellence, and emotional intelligence fosters trust. When employees feel heard and empowered, they create extraordinary experiences for guests. The success of iconic properties lies not only in their architecture, but in the spirit of the people who bring them to life.

LAST WORD: Advice For Emerging Leaders on Leaving a Lasting Impact on Luxury Hospitality

Luxury today is no longer about excess it is about meaning.  An iconic hotel is not built merely with budget; it is built with purpose. It must reflect local craftsmanship, cultural authenticity, and emotional storytelling. Guests today seek connection, not just comfort.

My advice to emerging leaders is this: curate experiences that create memories for a lifetime. When hospitality moves beyond transaction and becomes transformation, you leave a legacy that endures.
