- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that respect and safety for women continue to be an abiding priority for the government
- The officials were ordered to make the Anti-Romeo Squad more vigilant in all the districts.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday asserted that the security and dignity of women are the government's utmost priorities, issuing a warning that any lack of vigilance in this direction would invite stern action.
He instructed the officials to make the activities of the Anti-Romeo Squad robust in all the districts so that they remain present in markets, schools, sensitive areas, and other public locations.
He informed that it is the duty of the police to make an environment safe for women and girl students, and any slack would not be accepted.
Reacting to the recent happenings reported in certain districts, Yogi directed district police officers to file comprehensive reports on the measures taken till date, emphasizing that the criminals have to be punished sternly and promptly, as per a government release.
The Chief Minister further stated that a new chapter of Mission Shakti will be initiated on the coming Sharadiya Navratri, with instructions to districts to initiate preparations. Sensitivity, security, self-reliance, and respect for girls and women will be the focus of the campaign.
Respecting women and establishing protection for their safety must be the foundations to creating fair and equitable society.
Facilitating a sense of safety to women in public and private spaces does not only respect their basic dignity, it also lifts the weight of the fear of pursuing education, work and individual development.
Respecting women means respecting their voice, their dignity, and their participation in every single aspect of life. Together, safety and respect set the bar for the ideal of gender equality that allows women to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the community's and nation's development.
