Mumbai Indians produced a composed yet commanding chase to defeat Gujarat Giants by seven wickets, successfully hunting down 193 in one of the highest run chases in Women’s Premier League history. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur anchored the pursuit with an unbeaten 71 off 43 balls, once again underlining her reputation as MI’s ultimate big-match player.

Gujarat set the tone with an aggressive batting display after losing the toss. Despite Sophie Devine departing early, GG maintained momentum through Beth Mooney and a fluent Kanika Ahuja, who stepped up in the absence of the injured Anushka Sharma. Kanika’s positive strokeplay, alongside Ash Gardner, powered Gujarat to a strong platform at the halfway stage. After a brief slowdown in the middle overs, Georgia Wareham held one end while Bharti Fulmali injected late drama. Bharti’s fearless hitting in the final two overs, including a flurry of boundaries and sixes, lifted Gujarat to an imposing 192.

Mumbai Indians replied harshly as Hayley Matthews, returning from injury, provided early intent, but it was the partnership between Harmanpreet and Amanjot Kaur that shaped the chase. Amanjot counterattacked with clean hitting before falling after a decisive stand. With the equation still demanding, Nicola Carey seized control, punishing loose bowling to swing the momentum decisively in MI’s favour.

Harmanpreet brought up her half-century at a crucial juncture and capitalised on Gujarat’s fielding lapses to keep the chase on track. Calm under pressure, she struck the winning boundary late in the innings, sealing another memorable victory, 193/3 in 19.2 overs.
