
Suruchi Inder S & Saurabh C Win Bronze in 10m Air Pistol at Asian Shooting Championships

- This win adds to the medal tally of India, following Manu Bhaker's bronze in the women's 10m air pistol
On Wednesday in Shymkent, Kazakhstan the Indian shooting team consisting of Saurabh Chaudhary and teenager Suruchi Inder Singh won the bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Asian Shooting Championships.
In the bronze medal match, they beat Chinese Taipei's Liu Heng-Yu and Hsieh Hsiang-Chen 17-9, and came home with one medal at the end of the day, in addition to the women's 10m air pistol event individual bronze medal won previously by double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker.
Chaudhary and Suruchi finished fifth ranked in the medal competition with individual scores of 292 and 286 for a combined score of 578.
China (gold) and South Korea (silver), the qualifiers for spots one and two respectively then had to fight for the gold medal. China won the match 16-12. All four other teams fought for the other two bronze medals with India defeating Chinese Taipei and Iran beating Vietnam 16-8.
Suruchi won four gold medals at the World Cup this season and was impressive in qualification with a perfect 100 in the first series, and 94, and 98 in the second and third series. Saurabh was consistent with a 95, 95, and 96.
Throughout the bronze medal match, Suruchi was ever so consistent, with seven 10's, and six of her shots were greater than 10.4 and that proved to be the difference for India's win.
We saw India, once again, with a medal in the junior 10m air pistol mixed team event when Vanshika Chaudhary and Gavin Anthony took bronze against Korea's Kim Yejin and Kim Dooyeon, narrowly, 16-14.
The Indian duo made up after finishing second in qualifying with a combined total of 578, with Chaudhary having a score of 282 and with Anthony having a score of 296.
