Spandana Ravindran Rejoins Sony as VP, Ad Sales

Spandana Ravindran returns to Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) as Vice President, Ad Sales. Spandana’s 19 years of rich work experience is characterized by work through various functions gaining knowledge from various stages of the media value chain, including media planning and income generation.

Spandana earlier joined SPNI as Senior Manager-South Sales from March 2012 to February 2019. Her role included generating revenues through advertisement sales in the Hindi movies cluster, and importantly, in the Indian Premier League (IPL). This period helped her enhance her knowledge about sports and entertainment monetisation along with building relationships with advertisers and agencies for the sport property. Over seven years, this exposure strengthened her capabilities in revenue growth, key-account management, client acquisition and strategic sales.

Her professional journey began in 2006 with Starcom MediaVest Group in media planning. She gained knowledge on strategy behind media, planning of audiences and what goes on behind the need of campaigns. The exposure to agencies gave her valuable insight into the workings of brands in media buying. In the subsequent year, she moved to the broadcasting end, working for Star India since 2007.

In next four years, she was in charge of generating the advertising business in the state of Karnataka for Star Plus and Star One. These years taught her intricacies of generating revenues at the market level. Spandana has had hands-on experience in the complete advertising value chain.

Rejoining Sony Pictures Networks India is definitely an important event in her career life, bridging the gap between her early days at regional advertising sales and her current leadership roles.

Prior to joining Sony once again, Spandan had also worked for JioStar as Senior Director . The understanding of JioStar’s advertising environment, their clients’ needs and developing media operations is added to her previous knowledge about Sony’s sales department and positioning.

While narrating her career journey, Spandana has always been talking about her efforts to understand the client requirements and offering customized media solutions to meet the aggressive sales targets, despite all the changes in the broadcast and digital world.
