In response to a call by Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Mann, wife of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, various social organizations assembled together to affirm their determination to work together for women's empowerment and to fight against every form of discrimination. This was announced at a mass marriage ceremony in Chhapar village on Sunday afternoon.

The event, presided over by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Jaswant Singh Gajjanmajra, was organized by the Samay Sewa Society.

CM Bhagwant further acknowledged the attempts made by the State government under his leadership to address social problems of gender bias and violence against women. She insisted that with greater cooperation from the public, improved results could be achieved.

She also repaid her tribute to the Samay Sewa Society for supporting poor families in arranging marriages without going into debts, helping approximately 400 families to ease the financial burden of weddings.

According to her, empowering women looks more attractive and focused in the state schemes like self-employment schemes and skill development programs.

Dr. Bhagwant also underscored the importance of instilling self-esteem and confidence in women in order for them to be truly empowered.

At this event, a total of 11 couples were married and a cultural program was also held. All couples received gifts such as jewelry, household items, furniture, and clothing.
