Sampurna Mahila Haat Celebrates Women Entrepreneurs

Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta today appreciated the contribution of women in the development of the nation and the organizations as “extraordinary and historic” at the valedictory function of the Sampurna Mahila Haat, Bal Sanskar Shivir-2026, and Dr Shobha Vijender's book on Shatayu Sangh aur Mahila Sehbhagita at Rohini, on Saturday.

Vijender called for the plantation of trees in Rohini, stating, “Let us all resolve to make Rohini cleaner, healthier and greener. Together, we have resolved to plant 10,000 trees across our constituency this year and nurture them into full-grown trees.”

Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi, who was recently elected to the Rajya Sabha, attended the event, along with Shobha Vijender, founder of Sampurna, various office-bearers of Sampurna, women entrepreneurs, participants from the Bal Sanskar Shivir, various dignitaries and a large gathering of residents.

Publicizing the plantation drive as a citizen's movement, Vijender called upon all the citizens of Rohini to take active part in the plantation drive and take care of every tree planted and grow it to a full-grown tree. He stated the plan for 10,000 trees to be planted during the year and would be reminding people that they were planted by their own hands once matured.

In her acceptance speech, Vijender said that it was good fortune that one of the first events she had to attend after taking office as a member of the Rajya Sabha was with the women of the Sampurna area of Rohini.

Addressing the valedictory function of Bal Sanskar Shivir-2026, Vijender stated the camp had imparted far more than memories to participating children, instilling values, discipline and cultural awareness to accompany them throughout their lives. He praised the dedication of children; teachers and volunteers, noting participants attended daily despite Delhi’s intense summer temperatures of 45 to 48 degrees Celsius and eagerly anticipated camp activities. He said their enthusiasm reflected the initiative’s success and Sampurna’s tireless efforts.

Vijender said Shatayu Sangh aur Mahila Sehbhagita is about women's participation in organisational and social life during the last hundred years, referring to the book by Shobha Vijender. He noted that, with dedication and determination, women had not only been involved in organizing activities but also had taken an active role in making it stronger and bigger. He called the contribution of the women in the book "extraordinary and historic" and said the book captures the real-life experience of women, who played an invaluable role in the development of the organization and society.

Vijender also added that the philosophy of the Sangh is not gender specific and motivates mothers and sisters to take forward together in service to the society. As the individual enters into a swayamsevak, the whole family becomes a family of service, each one of them playing a part in organization and social work, he added.

In the program, an exhibition of the products prepared by the women entrepreneurs and Self-Help Groups was organized and sold at the Sampurna Mahila Haat, introduction of Shobha Vijender's book was held and the book was reviewed and there was a discussion about women's role in social organizations and society. It culminated with felicitation of Bal Sanskar Shivir-2026 Participants, Trainers and Women Entrepreneurs.
