The Indian women’s cricket team has created history by winning the Women’s Cricket World Cup by defeating South Africa by 52 runs.
Congratulations started pouring in, congratulating the Indian women on their spectacular feat. President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared their heartfelt wishes and hailed team India’s victory in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Final.
In a social media post shared on X, the Indian President hailed it as a watershed moment for women’s cricket and showed optimism towards the sports future in the country. She also commended the Indian women’s cricket team for their determination and inspiring performance.
The post on X, by President Murmu said, "My heartiest congratulations to each and every member of the Indian women's cricket team on winning the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025! They have created history by winning it for the first time. They have been playing well, and today they got the result befitting their talent and performance. This watershed moment will take women's cricket to even higher performances. I admire the way the girls have done India proud."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to X, to congratulate the women in blue on their spectacular victory and hailed this moment as a strong motivation for the future champions.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, "A spectacular win by the Indian team in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Finals. Their performance in the final was marked by great skill and confidence. The team showed exceptional teamwork and tenacity throughout the tournament. Congratulations to our players. This historic win will motivate future champions to take up sports".
Other key leaders such as Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his wishes to the team.
