  • The schemes are aimed at women, farmers, youth, and needy sections

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved a series of decisions related to welfare as the Prime Minister’s Office began functioning from the newly relocated Seva Teerth complex.

The decisions are centered on steps that would help women, farmers, youth, and other sections of society, indicating a commitment to social welfare and reaching out to the masses.

As the PMO began functioning from the new location on Friday, four significant decisions related to important governance areas were approved.

These included the launch of the Road Accident Victims Hospitalisation and Assured Treatment (PM RAHAT) scheme, scaling up the Lakhpati Didi scheme, increasing the allocation for the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, and sanctioning the Startup India Fund of Funds 2.0.

The PM RAHAT scheme aims to provide road accident victims with cashless emergency treatment of up to ₹1.5 lakh, with the aim of ensuring that there is no delay in medical treatment due to financial reasons.

The Lakhpati Didi scheme, which has already reached three crore beneficiaries, will now reach six crore women by March 2029, with a focus on financial independence and livelihood creation through self-help groups, especially in rural areas.

The allocation for the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund has been raised from ₹1 lakh crore to ₹2 lakh crore. This is to facilitate improvements in rural infrastructure, storage, logistics, and supply chains for farmers.

Additionally, the Startup India Fund of Funds 2.0 has been approved with a corpus of ₹10,000 crore. This is to facilitate early-stage startups, innovation, and employment generation, especially in the technology and emerging space.

According to officials, the initial approvals from the new office indicate a commitment to enhancing rural incomes, women’s economic engagement, and providing opportunities for young people and other disadvantaged groups.

They further stated that the approvals indicate the public service-oriented approach that is characteristic of the new administrative arrangement.

The Seva Teerth complex, which was opened by the Prime Minister, marks a rearrangement of the administrative infrastructure of the government. It now accommodates the Prime Minister’s Office, together with the National Security Council Secretariat and the Cabinet Secretariat.
