Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged the Indian industry to take bold steps to capitalize on global opportunities, as the world increasingly views India as a trusted partner capable of producing high-quality goods. Speaking at a post-Budget webinar on Regulatory, Investment, and Ease of doing business reforms, he emphasized that, in the face of global supply-chain disruptions and economic uncertainties, the world now requires a dependable partner with the ability to produce top-notch products and maintain a reliable supply chain.
The PM also announced that five lakh first-time women entrepreneurs, along with those from scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, will be eligible for loans of up to Rs two crore. "We must create new avenues for credit delivery to ensure MSMEs can access affordable and timely credit. Five lakh first-time women, SC, and ST entrepreneurs will benefit from this initiative," he said.
"Our country has the capability to achieve this, and all of you in the industry are capable as well. This is a tremendous opportunity for us. I urge our industry not to view the world's expectations as something to observe passively. We cannot afford to be mere spectators; you must identify your role in this and actively seek opportunities for yourselves," Modi told the industry leaders.
PM Modi stated that the government has been working alongside the industry for the past 10 years, demonstrating its commitment to reforms, financial discipline, transparency, and inclusive growth. "Today, India stands as a growth engine for the global economy, showcasing its resilience even during challenging times. Every country now seeks to strengthen its economic ties with India. Our manufacturing sector must capitalize on this opportunity," he emphasized.
He also stated that the industry has gained new confidence thanks to the government's consistent support and commitment to reforms. "I assure stakeholders in the manufacturing and export sectors that this will continue in the coming years. I encourage you to move forward with confidence and take bold steps. New opportunities have been opened for the country's manufacturing and export sectors," Modi said.
Modi will join a post-Budget webinar on employment on March 5 via video conferencing. The webinar will focus on investing in people, economy, and innovation. The PM will address the participants, highlighting the government's efforts to boost job creation and employment opportunities.
