  • Nexus Select Trust launches "Happyness for HER" to support women’s health and hygiene
  • The campaign increases awareness about women’s health issues in India
  • The month of January is celebrated as Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, with a focus on preventive healthcare

The Nexus Select Trust is India's largest platform for retail real estate. Their newest initiative, Happyness for HER, is focused on building positive impacts on community health by improving and raising awareness of women's health, menstrual hygiene, and general awareness of periods throughout the entire country of India.

January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month and reminds everyone why it is so important for women to practice preventative health.

Nexus has positively impacted over 125,000 women and girls through this initiative by providing much-needed sanitation products to disadvantaged women, providing sanitary pad dispensers in malls across the country, hosting over 500 workshops in 15 different cities and distributing over 2 million sanitary napkins. They have a goal of reaching at least 300,000 women by 2030.

This initiative continues with the expansion of workshops being held in Mangalore and Navi Mumbai. In those two cities, more than 1,000 young girls have participated in the workshops and will also participate in the Gurgaon workshops, all of which will positively affect over 1,000 girls.

There are numerous other projects planned for government schools in cities such as Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar, Bengaluru, and Delhi, which will positively impact the lives of over 8,000 girls.

Through this expansion, Nexus is demonstrating its continued commitment to contributing to measurable development and impact in the communities where Nexus is located.

Dalip Sehgal, CEO of Nexus Select Trust, emphasized that we need to combine our efforts and increase our knowledge and conversations about menstrual health across India.

With around 20 percent of all worldwide cervical cancer being diagnosed in India each year, as well as millions of young women unable to obtain basic menstrual supplies, facilities, or information about menstrual health, the need is clear.

Happyness for HER will help fill those gaps in the communities that need it by providing scientifically backed and clinically accepted materials on menstrual health and hygiene.

The workshop aims to solve the key educational gaps with respect to menstrual health and hygiene, as well. In addition, these workshops will provide information to all participants on two other important areas of menstrual health: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and cervical cancer.

Using trained educators, these workshops provide an opportunity for participants to learn about their bodies and be encouraged to continue to learn more about themselves. If any participant thinks they may have any of these conditions, they will be encouraged to consult with their physician.
