Karnataka Bootcamp Empowers 120 Students in Women Entrepreneurship

AlgoShack Technologies supported women’s entrepreneurship in Karnataka as Startup Partner at a Davanagere bootcamp, empowering 120 students through practical training in innovation, business development, and entrepreneurial leadership.

The district-level initiative involved 120 selected girl students from five institutions who were organized into 10 teams and an intensive day of hands-on learning about entrepreneurship, innovation, business development and leadership. The program was conducted under the auspices of the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) and the IT, BT and S&T Department, Government of Karnataka as part of the State's initiative to provide more entrepreneurial opportunities for young women not only in Bengaluru but all over the state.

The bootcamp aimed to bring awareness to aspiring women entrepreneurs about the basics of development and building of a business idea. The sessions included the entrepreneurial mindset, customer discovery, problem validation, business model development, preparing a pitch and opportunity landscape for entrepreneur for the state of Karnataka for women entrepreneurs.

The program also gave the participants a chance to collaborate in pairs or groups and gain insight into real-life business challenges and the opportunity to develop their ideas into business prospects. The teams capped the program with a peer-pitch challenge, where they share their ideas with peers and get feedback. They were also given an action plan for 60 days to follow in order to keep developing their ideas after the boot camp.

AlgoShack Women Leader Ananya while speaking about the initiative mentioned how creating equal opportunities for young women who dream to become entrepreneurs was of great significance.

The idea is that Entrepreneurship should not be restricted by geographical boundaries or networks, these 120 students are just a proof of that and their job is to make a way for that talent to be exposed by providing them opportunities to meet people, learn from them and experience the journey of building a start-up from scratch. Programs like this are where India's next generation of founders will come from and we wanted AlgoShack to be one of those.

Her comment reflects the significance of women's empowerment, entrepreneurship education and skill development, exposure to mentorship and inclusive innovation for the next generation of women leaders and entrepreneurs.

The Davanagere bootcamp also underscores the need to bring entrepreneurship training closer to the district talent pool where young women may have great ideas but limited access to entrepreneurial networks, industry exposure and entrepreneurship ecosystems.

The program fostered a space for young women to learn and pitch in teams and to think about entrepreneurship early on, with the goal of increasing their innovation and business creation confidence.

The program is a part of Karnataka's overall initiative to promote women entrepreneurship, youth entrepreneurship, digital innovations, leadership development and inclusion of women in economic life across the state. Such initiatives can play a part in bridging the gap between new talent from smaller cities with knowledge and opportunities to join the burgeoning startup ecosystem in India.
