Mahindra Group Appoints Purnima Lamba as Chief Brand Officer

Purnima Lamba has taken charge as Chief Brand Officer at Mahindra Group, bringing nearly 25 years of experience in brand building, marketing and consumer-focused leadership. Her appointment, effective September 1, 2026, comes as Mahindra Group continues to strengthen its corporate brand narrative and communications strategy.

In her new role, Purnima will lead the development and execution of Mahindra Group’s corporate brand and communications strategy. She will also work on maintaining brand consistency across the Group’s diverse business verticals and strengthening its presence across traditional and digital platforms. Her responsibilities include developing a brand narrative aligned with Mahindra’s values, vision and business ambitions.

Purnima joins Mahindra Group following an extensive career at Unilever, where she spent around 25 years in senior leadership positions across India, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. During her tenure, she worked across several well-known beauty and personal care brands, including Lakmé, Sunsilk, TRESemmé and Vaseline. Her most recent position was Global Brand Vice President for Knorr.

She has extensive experience in strategic brand management, consumer insights, digital transformation and communications. She worked on brand experiences at Unilever, creating tech-enabled experiences, and digital media models that helped it to build brand presence and global reach, Mahindra said.

These features would come in handy as Mahindra continues to build a strong corporate brand and create an engaging story that resonates with its future goals, he said.

As Mahindra Group continues its operations in various sectors and verticals, Purnima's hiring brings a fresh perspective to the company. The Group's interests include automotive, farm equipment, financial services, technology, hospitality, real estate, logistics, renewable energy, defense and aerospace. The wide spectrum of its activities is especially important in terms of creating a consistent corporate identity and communication.

Purnima has an international experience of brand leadership and has also worked with businesses that are focused on the customer, so she brings a global point of view to Mahindra's corporate branding initiatives. Her responsibilities will include creating a more cohesive and streamlined brand story for the Group's diverse businesses and making them more prominent in both the traditional and digital landscape.

Her shift is also an important one from the world's biggest consumer goods company to one of India's biggest diversified business groups. As the Group extends its footprint across industry segments and global markets, Purnima brings to the table his expertise in building brands across the globe, which will complement the Group's work to build a stronger identity and effectively convey its purpose.
