Hyderabad SARAS Mela to Showcase Rural Products From Oct 7

By: Women Entrepreneurs Review Team | Monday, 5 October 2026

Hyderabad is set to see a wide mix of rural products this month, with the SARAS Mela bringing together women entrepreneurs, artisans and self-help groups from across India. The 12-day exhibition will be held from October 7 to 18 at the HMDA Grounds near the IMAX theatre.

At the SARAS mela, 204 stalls will be in place. Out of these, 95 stalls will come from Telangana.   Visitors will see Pochampally Ikat, Gadwal, and Narayanpet sarees. There will also be handicrafts. Traditional foods will be available too.  Visitors can look for millets, herbal products, and other items. These goods will be made by people in rural areas.

The Telangana stalls will have 32 handicraft exhibitors, 20 handloom exhibitors and 30 food product stalls. Four participants will bring herbal products, while three will display production items. Six stalls will have live food counters.

Key Highlights

  • SARAS Mela will feature 204 stalls from rural enterprises
  • Telangana will showcase products through 95 stalls at mela
  • Women entrepreneurs will display handlooms, handicrafts, foods and millets

The range of products from Telangana reflects the State’s craft and food traditions. At the event, visitors can buy Kalamkari and embroidered sarees. Shoppers can also check out wooden toys and terracotta items. Other stalls will carry Banjara crafts, jute and leather bags, and herbal products. Food will be sold too, with snacks, pickles, spice powders, and millets.

For the women and artisans taking part, the exhibition provides an opportunity to sell directly to customers in an urban market. It also gives them a chance to see how buyers respond to their products and meet potential buyers for larger orders.

Divya Devarajan, CEO of the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty, said this mela is made to support women who run small shops. She said the goal is to enhance rural work. She added that it helps self-help groups find buyers.

Divya also said women entrepreneurs and artisans are coming from many States. They can share how they sell their goods. They may learn from each other through the chats and the sales talk. The mela could further help participants find bulk orders and explore business partnerships, she added.

SARAS, or Sale of Articles of Rural Artisans Society, is a platform through which products made by rural artisans and self-help groups are taken to larger markets. For women running small enterprises, such exhibitions can provide an important opportunity to meet customers outside their usual markets.

The mela is being organised by the Telangana government through SERP under the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department.

Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka said sellers should meet buyers face to face. She noted this helps rural women entrepreneurs expand their work. She also said it supports their everyday earnings.

The Hyderabad edition will bring products from different regions. Visitors may find things from across Telangana, such as handlooms and local handicrafts. Some stalls will also focus on rural goods and food from other parts of India. This should give the women entrepreneurs more chances to connect with customers.
