Thousands of women farmers from across India gathered at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Delhi on September 30 for the All-India Women Farmer Conference, organized by the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS). The conference focused on recognizing the changing role of women in agriculture and highlighting their contribution to rural development, family incomes, and the country’s economic growth.
The day-long event began with the worship of the cow and Bhagwan Balarama, followed by flag-hoisting and the collective proclamation, “We, the women of India, shall bring prosperity.” Women farmers from various states and villages participated in the gathering, bringing regional traditions and experiences while discussing key issues affecting the agricultural sector.
Addressing the conference, Manju Dixit, All-India Women’s Coordinator, BKS, called for a broader understanding of the role of women farmers. She highlighted how women are increasingly contributing to their families’ economic progress, adopting modern technologies, and bringing new approaches and greater participation to agricultural activities.
