Female entrepreneurs, artists, educators, and social workers participated in the Gargi Udyami Sakhi Sawan Mahotsav 2026 that was organized in Patna on Sunday. The event celebrated women as economic, social, and artistic contributors. While this event focused on the significance of financial independence for women, it also helped promote the cultural heritage of Bihar.
Organised by the Gargi chapter of Let’s Inspire Bihar, the Mahotsav saw the confluence of women entrepreneurs, artists and other members of the society at one platform. The event displayed stalls showcasing products and innovations of women entrepreneurs and provided them a chance to prove their worth and reach out to a wider audience.
Besides that, folk and classical shows were organised adding a cultural hue to the celebrations. It was formally launched by the patron of ‘Let’s Inspire Bihar’ and IPS officer Vikas Vaibhav by lighting of the lamp.
Key Highlights:
- Gargi Mahotsav showcases women-led innovations, entrepreneurship and creative talent
- 40,000 women join Let’s Inspire Bihar as the Gargi network expands across 20 districts
- Event blends women’s economic empowerment with Bihar’s rich cultural heritage
Addressing the conference, Vikas stressed that the developmental journey of Bihar can never be completed without the participation of women leaders and their developmental vision.
He underscored the importance of considering women not only as beneficiaries of the development process but as equally important partners in the development of the state. He stressed the importance of recognizing the leadership role of women in envisioning the development of Bihar by 2047.
Vikas pointed out that the initiative has successfully managed to build up a fairly sizeable network of volunteers consisting of about four lakh people including 40,000 women. The organization has also achieved success in terms of expansion at the grass root level with 41 Gargi Pathshalas now operational in 20 districts. He said that the next stage of this campaign will be about consolidating itself across the state of Bihar with the goal of taking the Gargi Chapter to all the panchayats by 2028.
The celebration gained an added cultural aspect when artists performed various forms of arts from Bihar through their music and dance forms. The program also included Kathak dance on Shiv Stuti.
In addition to the cultural events, the Mahotsav paid tribute to successful women by way of Gargi Mahila Udyamita Samman. These awards have highlighted the increasing role played by women in entrepreneurship and socio-economic development of Bihar.
As per Preeti Bala, the national convener of Gargi, the goal of the organization is to motivate women to acknowledge their abilities and use their skills to generate economic opportunities. Preeti said that the aim of this effort is to motivate every single woman to think that her particular ability could become an enterprise and that women-led enterprises could make a difference in the economic and social development of Bihar.
The Mahotsav also honoured individual talent with unique awards for their contribution. Sonika became the first ‘Gargi Desi Biharan’ in recognition of her ties with the cultural heritage of Bihar. ‘Gargi Sawan Diva’ award went to Sambhavi Sajal, whereas the award for ‘Gargi Voice of Bihar’ went to Kannu Tripathi. The awards provided yet another facet to the fest by appreciating creativity and confidence of women.
