- Minakshi Bahinipati's reappointment comes amid rising cases of gender-based violence
- Minakshi Bahinipati previously served as the Chairperson of the Koraput NAC
The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has reappointed Minakshi Bahinipati as the President of the Odisha Pradesh Mahila Congress for a second term, as part of the party's restructuring to strengthen its women's wing. Previously, she served as the Chairperson of the Koraput NAC, leading the Koraput District Congress Committee for a decade.
Minakshi's reappointment has been praised by Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Bhakta Charan Das, who praised her and expressed strong internal support for her appointment. Expressing gratitude and deep concern over rising violence against women in Odisha, Minakshi says, "Women are not safe anywhere in the state. Every day, mothers, daughters, and sisters face threats to their security." She pledges to ensure women's safety and empowerment to carry forward Rahul Gandhi's campaign.
Minakshi's appointment comes amid rising concerns over women's safety in Odisha, with over 60 gang rape cases reported under the current BJP government since taking power drawing international attention. She is committed to strengthening the Mahila Congress and mobilizing women for justice and security. The AICC has investigated gender-based violence in Gopalpur and Keonjhar with five senior Congress women leaders and MPs investigating the severity. Furthermore, Minakshi is intensifying efforts to empower women and is expected to gain widespread support from party leaders and women.
