By: Priyanka Vyas, Content Writer

Women’s influence across India’s business and institutional ecosystem is steadily growing. An increasing number of women continue to take on leadership positions across diverse sectors including corporate organizations, entrepreneurs, policy makers, technologists, and healthcare.

Indian women have made real progress in the corporate world, and it shows most clearly in the boardroom. In 2014, women held just 5 percent of board seats at NSE-listed companies. By March 2026, that figure had reached 21 percent. Across all registered companies, women directors passed the one million mark for the first time in 2025-26, and they now hold about 29 percent of directorships.

Beyond individual career milestones, these board and executive appointments reflect a wider shift in India’s professional environment. Women are progressively taking on important roles and initiatives, working collaboratively to drive change and contribute to long-term organizational goals, strengthening the dialogue around women in governance, corporate leadership and businesses.

Their achievements add to the broader momentum of building a stronger pipeline of women leaders across the nation. Through prominent roles and strategic responsibilities, they are charting new pathways defined by visionary leadership, resilience and impactful decision-making.

Women Entrepreneurs Review brings to you a curated roundup of September’s most impactful women’s leadership appointments. These corporate appointments bear testament to women building on their increasing presence and contributions to strengthen India’s corporate world.
