MRUCI Appoints Kaacon Sethi as its New CEO

Media Research Users Council India (MRUCI) has appointed Kaacon Sethi as its CEO, effective October 8, 2026. The selection is quite important as MRUCI is gears up for the re-launch of the Indian Readership Survey (IRS), one of the most important readership surveys conducted in India.
For MRUCI, Kaaco’s role involves developing a new paradigm on how the quality of media, level of audience participation and impact of media can be measured in order to make more informed decisions on the part of media companies, advertisers and other media stakeholders. Kaacon’s appointment also marks the filling of a senior leadership position that had remained vacant for nearly six years.

Kaacon has been working in the field of media, entertainment, sports, content, marketing, and business leadership for more than 35 years. She started her career as a media planner/buyer hence equipping her well with expertise in media market analysis.
She then moved on to work at Sony Entertainment Television as the Marketing & Sales Head of SET, leading commercial & brand-oriented initiatives. Later she worked as Business Head of Sony MAX, and managed the business operation and P&L of the channel.
Throughout her career, Kaacon has been involved in various senior roles within India’s media & entertainment industry. She has been a CEO of K Sera Sera Productions and has worked as the Branded Content Solutions Head at Lintas Media Group.
Over the course of years and her professional journey, she gained experience across various functional areas like media strategy, content, marketing, sales, and business management, which makes her a great candidate for the envisioned growth for MRUCI.
Kaacon has earlier worked at Dainik Bhaskar Group for over ten years as Chief Corporate Marketing Officer. She has played a major role in formulating the strategy of brand development, positioning and market expansion, as well as revenue generation through marketing. She was actively involved in the identification of fresh business prospects and non-metro market growth opportunities due to her prior experience in developing media businesses outside metropolitan cities. She was the client head of the Kantar-Dainik Bhaskar Urban Bharat Initiative and Report.
