
Women-Led Naval Mission Advances as INSV Tarini Heads Home Post-Cape Passage

Indian Naval Sailing Vessel (INSV) Tarini, helmed by two Indian Navy Officers, Lt Cdr Dilna K and Lt Cdr Roopa A, successfully reached Cape Town for a scheduled halt under the Navika Sagar Parikrama II initiative. Crewed by two women officers, the vessel has braved challenging weather conditions, including heavy rains, high winds, and turbulent seas, officials confirmed on April 18, 2025.
Commencing the Final Leg of its expedition, INSV Tarini officially flagged off from Cape Town, South Africa, on April 15, 2025, en route to its homeport in Goa. Serving as a Strategic Diplomatic Platform and leveraging her strategic port call, INSV Tarini, hosted a series of high-impact diplomatic and public engagement activities while docked in Cape Town.

The crew passed the renowned Cape of Good Hope on April 17, a proud moment in their continued maritime journey around the globe,” the spokesperson said.
Exemplifying remarkable maritime skill and unwavering determination, the INSV Tarini crew withstood adverse maritime conditions marked by heavy rains, high velocity winds nearing 40 knots (75 kmph), and ocean swells rising over five meters, during the critical leg of their journey.
