The ninth edition of Wheebox’s India Skills Report (ISR 2022) shows that women are more employable in India than men. ‘Rebuilding and Reengineering the Future of Work’ is the theme of the 2022 study.

According to the survey, the number of women who are employable has been steadily increasing from 2016 to 2022. In 2016 and 2021, the estimates were 39.95 % and 41.25 %, respectively. In 2022, 51.44 % of women will be highly employable, according to the research. Most women were found to have contributed in the Internet Businesses sector, with 54.5 % of female participation.

Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Kerala have the country’s largest reservoir of employable talent, according to the India Skills Report 2022. According to the research, 46.2 % of Indian adolescents are deemed highly employable resources. The largest demand for skill was seen in software, pharmaceuticals, internet business, and banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI).

The India Skills Report 2022 is based on the findings of the Wheebox National Eligibility Test (WNET), which was completed by 3 lakh individuals across the country, as well as a report from the India Hiring Intent Survey, which surveyed 150 companies across 15 industries and sectors.

Pune was found to have the most employable resources, with 78 % of candidates scoring above 60 %. The second-best result came from Lucknow. Graduates with a B.E., B.Tech., or MBA were found to be the most employable in the country, followed by BA and BCom graduates.

Job demand was strongest in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, which resulted in increased recruiting activity. According to the research, these industries would hire 20% more fresh graduates in 2022 than they did in 2021.

Under the chapter ‘Decoding the Future of Work,’ the report discusses the future nature of employment. It cites a Gartner estimate that predicts that by the end of the fiscal year 2021, 51% of knowledge employees will be working remotely. It is estimated that 32 % of all employees in the world will work remotely.

The report was suggested that massive infrastructure reforms and skilling measures be implemented to bridge India's skill gap by 2022.

New job prospects in the fields of robots, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, and design thinking are highlighted in the paper.

The India Skills Report is an annual publication produced in collaboration with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and Taggd, Sunstone Eduversity. It’s a report on the demand for and availability of talent.
