West Indies Women Defeat India by 9 Wickets in 2nd T20I Match

On December 17, 2024, West Indies Women defeated India Women by 9 wickets in the 2nd T20I match at DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai in the three-series match. India Women posted 159/9 in 20 overs, with Smriti Mandhana scoring 62 off 41 balls and Richa Ghosh contributing 32 off 17 balls. Hayley Matthews scored 85 off 47 balls, and Qiana Joseph scored 38 off 22 balls. The series is now level at 1-1.
WI skipper Hayley Matthews led the West Indies to a resounding victory smashing 17 fours in an unbeaten 85 after claiming (2-36) which helped to chase their target of 160/1 in just 15.4 overs. The visitors supported by a strong bowling performance by Chinelle Henry (2-37), Deandra Dottin (2-14), Hayley Matthews (2-36), and Afy Fletcher (2-28), restricted the hosts to 159/9.
India Women's opener, Smriti Madhana, continued her strong performance with her bat scoring a half-century but was insufficient for India Women as they elected to field first. India failed to put up a daunting total, however, Smiriti found the boundary twice in the fifth over to guide India's run rate past six. WI skipper trapped Jemimah lbw in the final over, and Raghvi Bist didn't last long. After taking Smriti's wicket, West Indies women continued to take wickets at the end of the match.
During the first innings, India women scored 159/9 in 20 overs whereas in the second innings West Indies Women defended scoring 160/1 in 15.4 overs.
