India's tech workforce is expected to see a 5.5% increase in women from 10.8% in 2022 to 14.9% by 2027, according to a report by recruitment firm TeamLease Digital. This growth is driven by the rise of Global Capability Centers (GCCs), where women are expected to make up 35% of the workforce by 2027. High-growing domains like data science, cybersecurity, cloud computing, AI, ML, and UX/UI design drive the growth. The tech sector is expected to transform significantly, with businesses prioritizing diversity and inclusion.
The demand for skilled professionals in tech is increasing, particularly for women in data-driven roles such as data scientists, analysts, and machine learning engineers. These roles offer opportunities for predictive analytics, deep learning, and business intelligence. Job postings for cybersecurity roles have risen by 14% between September 2023 and September 2024.
India's cloud adoption is growing rapidly, with a workforce expected to double by 2025 and surpass 2 million by 2027. Women are excelling in roles like cloud architect, engineer, and DevOps engineer, leading digital transformation initiatives. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are shaping industries, with women taking leadership roles in AI research, ML, and Natural Language Processing (NLP) at a pace of 28 per cent annually. Women are leading AI research, ML engineering, and NLP in building intelligent systems and automating processes. They are also in charge of UX/UI design, combining technical expertise with creativity.
