West Indies Qualifying for Semi-Finals; defeat England by 6 Wickets

The ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 has reached its semi-final stage. The qualifying teams are Australia, South Africa, West Indies, and New Zealand. England has been ruling the points table but match 20 turned the table in West Indies' favor as they clinched victory over ENG-W by 6 wickets in Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 15 October 2024, Tuesday. WI-W chased a defended target of 141 runs set by England Women in just 18 overs smashing 144 runs for 4 wickets.

West Indies skipper Hayley Matthews elected to bowl first after securing the toss and her decision was on the spot as she grabbed 2 crucial wickets for England Women breaking the partnership of the opening duo of Danni Wyatt (16 off 12). All-rounder Deandra Dottin came up with her extraordinary moves fielding as she caught Danni Wyatt and ran out Alice Capsey for 1/2, moving forward to get that catch of Amy Jones (7 off 7) who Afy Fletcher bowled. Deandra became the best fielder during the match for her catches, she later bowled out Danielle Gibson 7 off 7 and caught Sophie Ecclestone for 7 off 4 bowled by captain Hayley Matthews. England skipper Heather Knight retired hurt scoring 21 off 13 whereas Nat Sciver Brunt smashed 57 off 50 without losing her wicket. Afy Fletcher grabbed the 3 highest wickets of Team England restricting them to 141/7 in 20 overs.

With a target of 142, opening duo Hayley Matthews and Qiana Joseph showed brilliant partnership during the second innings. Captain smashed half-century in 38 balls hitting 7 boundaries and 1 six whereas 'Player of the Match' Qiana secured 52 runs off 38 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes. Following, the target was achieved by Shemaine Campbelle (5 off 9), Deandra Dottin (27 off 19), and Aaliyah Alleyne (8 off 4).
