New Zealand advances to Semi-Finals beating Pakistan by 54 Runs; India Eliminated

Match 19 of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 shattered the dreams of Women in Blue or Team India to hold that World Cup as New Zealand Women (NZ-W) defeated Pakistan Women (PAK-W) by 54 runs and advanced to the semi-finals of the mega tournament along with Team Australia. The match between New Zealand and Pakistan was hosted in Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 14 October 2024, Monday where NZ-W put up a competitive total that made PAK-W struggle to chase. Eden Carson received 'Player of the Match' for her splendid spell of 2/7 in 3 overs.
Skipper Sophie Devine won the toss and opted to bat first against Pakistan Women where the white ferns started strong reaching 39/0 during the powerplay. NZ openers Suzie Bates secured 28 runs in 29 balls hitting 3 boundaries whereas Georgia Plimmer smashed 17 runs off 14 balls with 2 boundaries, however, Pakistan pacer Nashra Sandhu showed her magic spell grabbing wickets of both the openers. Next, Amelia Kerr secured 9 off 17 but was soon removed by Omaima Sohail. Captain Sophie Devine and Brooke Halliday showcased some brilliant figures of 19 off 25 and 22 off 24 that led the score but Pakistan bowlers made sure to take their wickets restricting for a big total. However, New Zealand smashed 110/6 in 20 overs.
The second innings became a nightmare for Pakistan Women as New Zealand bowlers left no mercy and secured all the wickets of their opponent in just 11.4 overs restricting them to 56 runs. Every pacer has taken a wicket with a decent economy, Eden Carson took major wickets with 2/7 and Amelia Kerr with 3/14.
