TWESS 2026 Summit Celebrates Women Entrepreneurs in Chandigarh

  • TWESS 2026 (Tech Women Entrepreneurs & Startup Summit) was conducted at Panjab University, Chandigarh
  • The main idea behind this summit was to celebrate and promote women’s innovation and entrepreneurship

Punjabi University was the successful host of the Technological Women’s Entrepreneurial Start-up Summit (TWESS).

TWESS was co-organized by the Panjab University-IIT Ropar “PI-RAHI” Regional Accelerator for Holistic Innovation Foundation, and the Northern Region Science and Technology Cluster “SROT Foundation/NRSTC”, to recognize women innovators and entrepreneurs that have reached major milestones in their innovation and entrepreneurship industries.

Furthermore, Avantika Saraogi, Executive Director of Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd., received an award for establishing India’s first bio-plastic manufacturing unit that manufactures polylactic acid from renewable materials (e.g., sugar), and that is environmentally friendly.

Additionally, Dr. Vaishali Aggarwal, Technical Director of Scott Edil Pharmacia Ltd., received an award for her contributions to improving the standards of the Indian pharmaceutical industry and for developing affordable healthcare products for millions of people globally through her work exporting to more than 70 countries.

Finally, a Pink Policy Dialogue titled "Unlocking the Gender Divide for the Advancement of Women-Led Innovation and Entrepreneurship" was held with panelists Ritika Singh and Neeru Gupta participating.

The summit also included two major events, namely Pitch to Glory, a startup pitching competition in which DACH Biotech Pvt. Ltd. took home first prize for their Rapid Prostate Cancer Detection Kit, and Idea Tree, an ideathon in which Ruhi, Kritika Kuksal, and Ankita Kamboj were awarded for their innovative ideas in cleaning agents, food products, and agriculture, respectively.

The summit saw a total of 150 participants, all working towards the development of women entrepreneurship in Northern India.
