PM Modi Highlights Need for Education & Empowering Daughters at Sardardham Event

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday spoke to the foundation stone laying ceremony of Sardardham Phase-II, Kanya Chhatralaya in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, in a video message, emphasizing the importance of education and daughters' empowerment in building the nation.

He depicted Sardardham as a name that is as holy as its purpose, mentioning that the new hostel to be opened will allow thousands of young women to avail themselves of education and fulfill their dreams.

Mirabai Chanu Wins Gold at Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships 2025

Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Mirabai Chanu made a stunning comeback by clinching the gold medal in the women’s 48kg category at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in Ahmedabad on August 25, 2025. Competing in this weight class for the first time since 2018, Chanu lifted a combined total of 193kg in a field of seven, 84kg in snatch, and 109kg in clean and jerk, setting new Commonwealth Championship records in all three lifts. This triumph marked her first competition in a year following an injury layoff and her challenging fourth-place finish at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The victory not only underscored her return to top form but also secured her direct qualification for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

BJP Launches Lado 'Lakshmi Yojana' to Provide Rs 2,100 Monthly Aid to Women

The BJP government on Thursday kept an important poll promise, with Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini saying that the 'Lado Lakshmi Yojana' would be introduced from September 25. Under the scheme, all eligible women would be given ₹2,100 as monthly financial support.

Nayab stated the decision was given the go-ahead at a meeting of the Haryana cabinet, and the scheme will be carried out as the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana on the birth anniversary of Deendayal Upadhyaya.

Kohima, Vizag & Bhubaneswar Ranked Safest Cities for Women in India

Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar, and Kohima were the most efficient among seven cities ranked safest for women in the 'Index on Women Safety (NARI) 2025', a survey of 31 major Indian cities revealed. Ranchi and Srinagar were at the bottom, with Mumbai at the bottom of seven safest big city lists.

Delhi and Kolkata were on the list at the bottom of the safety rankings. Other northeastern Indian cities, such as Aizawl, Gangtok, and Itanagar, were also placed among the safest, with good correlations to greater gender equity, infrastructures, policing, and civic engagement.

SC to Examine Implementation of Workplace Harassment Act for Women Lawyers

On Friday, the Supreme Court considered a petition inquiring whether the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (or POSH Act) can be made applicable to women advocates enrolled with State Bar Councils/ Bar Associations.
