- The Junta de Andalucía has introduced a new programme to promote women's entrepreneurship
- The programme is promoted by Andalucía Emprende
- It is being rolled out together with the Andalusian Women's Institute
The Junta de Andalucía has initiated a programme to empower women's entrepreneurship, created by Andalucía Emprende, within the Ministry of University, Research and Innovation, together with the Andalusian Women's Institute (IAM), within the Ministry of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families, and Equality.
The program implements a referral system for women to access information, training, and business tools more effectively.
Coordination between the Centres for Entrepreneurship (CADE) of Andalucía Emprende and IAM's provincial and municipal centres aims at referring participants to the best-suited services according to their needs.
Daniel Escacena, General Director of Andalucía Emprende, stated that the programme aims to build an integrated support system for women entrepreneurs and recognized their contribution towards economic growth.
IAM Director Olga Carrión showed recent advances in equality by noting that women accounted for 53.6 percent of new self-employed workers in Andalucía in 2024, up 17 percent from 2018. She also mentioned that more work needs to be done in order to break stereotypes and that economic independence is the main factor in the empowerment of women.
As part of the partnership, Andalucía Emprende and IAM will exchange information on services available.
Andalucía Emprende's 260 centers already offer consultancy services, training, funding assistance, coworking areas, and assistance with incentive applications, while IAM provides equality, employment, training, and support service resources.
Businesswomen will also be able to benefit from initiatives like "Empezar a Emprender", that offers guidance through various phases of business growth, and IAM's teletraining platform "Equipa", which includes gender considerations.
The regional government has also initiated the "Andaluzaa: Mujer, presente y futuro" mobile application that unites training and job opportunities on a single platform.
