The Week That Was: Indian Women Empowerment News Overview

India's journey towards women's empowerment is on its fastest route through dedication and perseverance. Indian women have been at the forefront of change, breaking all the preconceptions and stereotypes made in the traditional male-dominated society and shattering all the social norms. They are changing the story of empowerment via entrepreneurship, education, sports, political empowerment, etc. Their voices resonate, demanding equal rights and opportunities. The empowerment of women becomes more than a goal to be achieved, it acts as a powerful reality that propels India towards a more inclusive and equal society as the country realizes the significance of shaping the future.

TiE Rajasthan to take Local Women Founders to Global Stage with I-Start
TiE Rajasthan has secured DoIT which runs an incubation centre ‘I-Start’ in order to take state’s women entrepreneurs to global stage with an intent to showcase these female entrepreneur’s startup ideas as well as entrepreneurial and managerial skills infront of the larger investors' community.
These female entrepreneurs shall get mentorship from TIE-Rajasthan as part of the tie-up. They much be enrolled in the programme for its global competition, conducting overall 60-odd locations that also includes about 22 in India.
Maharashtra Govt Introduces 'Free Higher Education' Program for Underprivileged Girls
The Maharashtra government is introducing a free higher education program for girls from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Socially and Educationally Background Classes (SEBC), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) whose annual family income is or less than Rs 8 lakh, aiming to promote gender equality and increase educational opportunities. The initiative covers tuition fees and other costs, aiming to make it more accessible for girls from underprivileged communities and to continue their education beyond secondary school.

The Indian women's cricket team's performance was impressive, with excellent bowling and openers. The series draw reflects the growing competitiveness in women's cricket and the increasing talent pool in both teams.
Justice B.V. Nagarathna Advocates for Financial Security of Women
Justice B.V. Nagarathna emphasized the importance of protecting women's financial and residential security for empowerment and independence. Financial security allows women to make independent decisions and improves economic stability, while residential security provides a safe living environment. She also defended a bench ruling that a Muslim woman can seek maintenance from her husband under Section 125 of the CrPC and stated "religion-neutral" provision applies to all married women irrespective of their religion.

Emcure Pharmaceuticals shares soared to a 31.5 per cent premium over the issue price of Rs 1,008 in July 2024 after listing at Rs 1,325.05, following a successful Initial Public Offering (IPO) led by Namita Thapar. The IPO, valued at Rs 1,952.03 crores, sparked investor interest and bolstered Emcure's market position and growth prospects making its debut at the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
