  • Telangana Female Voters make up 1.67 cr of the Total Population
  • Congress remains Optimistic toward States’ Women Voters’ Support

The state election commission's draft voter list shows that women in Telangana make up 51 per cent of the total population, with 85.28 lakh female voters or 1.67 crore of female voters. The draft states that the state is divided into 538 mandals, 12,848 panchayats, 5,817 MPTCs and 570 ZPTCs.

According to the recent report, the number of panchayats participating in the elections has been revised to 1,13,722 wards, with the except date to be determined after the BC commission's report on reservations.

Due to significant divisions, the Congress leaders urged the Chief Minister of State, Revanth Reddy to proceed with party-based MPTC and ZPTC elections, followed by Sarpanch elections which need not follow any party lines. In line with the indications, TPCC Chief Mahesh Kumar Goud also suggests multiple-phase elections, while Congress remains optimistic about securing a majority, especially with states' women voters' support.

"Every month, 30 lakh zero tickets are issued by RTC as part of the free bus travel scheme, which has significantly increased women's mobility for personal, work, and business purposes. This initiative has provided them with greater freedom and financial savings, and we anticipate that women will support Congress", says a Congress Leader.

Meanwhile, the opposition party, BJP has implemented a 33 per cent reservation policy for women in organizational positions, marking a significant step towards gender equality and increasing women's representation in leadership roles within the party, marking a significant step towards the upcoming elections.
