- The RJD leader from Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, made important pledges in advance of the assembly elections in 2025
- Women would be eligible to receive ₹30,000 annually under the "Mai Bahin Maan Yojana", he said during an event in Patna
As Bihar prepares for the Assembly elections in 2025, RJD leader and Mahagathbandhan's candidate for chief minister Tejashwi Yadav made several welfare announcements for women, farmers, and government employees.
During a rally in Patna, Tejashwi stated that if the INDIA bloc government is elected, then women throughout Bihar will receive ₹30,000 per year through the 'Mai Bahin Maan Yojana', which he wanted to initiate on Makar Sankranti (January 14).
He noted that the proposed plan would help women cope with issues they have faced as a result of a higher inflation rate.
Tejashwi also was in favor of farmers and suggested a proposed bonus of ₹300 per quintal for paddy and ₹400 per quintal for wheat, in addition to the MSP. He scolded the ruling party for not "providing a remunerative price to the cultivator."
He also proposed that government employees, such as police, teachers, and health officials, should be allocated to work assignments no more than 70 km from their home district, adding that it would make it more convenient for them, and would help with work-life balance as well.
Tejashwi is "very optimistic" about where his party stands, specifying that voters want "a change" after two decades of the old party government. Yadav suggested that the coalition will "take an oath on November 18."
He indicated that in an INDIA bloc government, the leaders of the Primary Agricultural Credit Societies and Vyapar Mandals would receive the title of people’s representatives for their labour in local economic activities.
