Team Korea Launches Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Program in Jaipur

- The Republic of Korea Embassy in India, in collaboration with KOTRA India sponsored Menstrual Hygiene Awareness
- The event took place at Government Girls Senior Secondary School (GGSSS), Chaksu
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in India, KOTRA India-Korea Business Cooperation Centre and Good Neighbors carried out a "Menstrual Hygiene Awareness and Dignity Initiative" on November 1, as part of the Team Korea CSR Initiative at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Chaksu, in Jaipur.
A total of 285 adolescent girls received menstrual hygiene kits at the event. Each kit contained consumables used for three months - sanitary napkins, underwear, a hand sanitizer, hand towel, pouch, hot water bag, and an educational brochure.
The program also had awareness sessions conducted by experts to enhance participants understanding of menstrual health and hygiene.
The program was attended by Punita Sharma, Chief Block Education Officer; Mahesh Sharma, Assistant Chief Block Education Officer, Chaksu Block Education Office; Lavina Rathore, State Lead, Educate Girls Globally, Directorate of Women Empowerment, Jaipur; and Dr. Sanjay Kumar Meena, Principal Medical Officer and Gynecologist who led a workshop on adolescent health and menstrual hygiene.
The principal of the school welcomed the attendees and stressed the significance of the issue in relation to students' confidence and health, and education of the students and school.
A representative of the embassy of the Republic of Korea, India pointed out the purpose of this program: "Empowerment of adolescent girls through education related to menstrual hygiene is directly linked to their health and dignity, and education."
Representatives of the embassy of the Republic of Korea-India, KOTRA India-Korea Business Cooperation Centre, Good Neighbors, and school staff fully reaffirmed their joint commitment to addressing improved health, education and empowerment of adolescent girls; and reduced absenteeism due to awareness building.
